The customer dropped her car off at my shop on May 20,2015 at 10am for a wheel alignment.When she dropped off her vehicle she and her husband had concerns of a noise when turning.They thought it might be a wheel bearing and asked us to check it...

out.We had to road test the vehicle,put it on the hoist,jack it up,drop it down and road test several times in an attempt to find the problem.[redacted] had returned at 11 O'clock and we were having difficulty finding the problem.She then told me to find the problem and let her know.We eventually found that the 4 wheel drive was partly engaged.We lubed the shifter and corrected the problem.This took over 2 hours of the shop time.Our door rate is 70 dollars an hour.We charged her $70 dollars for the diagnostic time instead of the $140 dollars that should have been charged.During our diagnosis we found a bad u-joint on the rear drive shaft.They also wanted their tires rotated but the wheel nuts were worn and we would have to replace all the wheel nuts in order to rotate the tires.Her other complaint that we overcharged for the front end part.The part we used has a 5 year warranty.I have used cheap front end parts in the past and they have not lasted very long.I will fax a printout showing my cost of the part in question.She picked her vehicle up at 2:30 in the afternoon.I do not feel that we wronged this person and I feel that we were very fair.

The business is failing to see the principal here. I am not disputing the work he did on the front end; the replacement of the tire rod end and the wheel alignment as that was the purpose of my appointment and taking the vehicle in. I'm disputing unauthorized repairs such as the lube of the 4x4 Mr. [redacted] said was partly engaged and causing my vehicle to be driven around and sit in the bay for a few hours and being charged for this as well as the difference in the part. As previously stated, he was only authorized to do the tire rode end and the wheel alignment, nothing more. This is a cut and dry situation which can be resolved with fairness and realizing that repairs and un necessary charges could have been avoided.
