Review: Copy of letter sent to JLC on August 29, 2013

Dear Mr [redacted],

I am writing to you in the hopes that you might be able to resolve an issue that I have with JLC Roofing. Both [redacted] and I have been in touch with personnel at your offices and have been unable to receive a call back or obtain satisfactory resolution.

The issue stems around work that JLC was contracted for on April 16, 2013. JLC was hired to replace a section of foam roof at our home following some storm damage that leaked through the ceiling into our dining room. Your crews came to the house the following week and were presumed to have completed their work since I received an invoice soon after which was paid by check on May 17, 2013. In June we arranged for repair of the ceiling that included removal of a section of drywall and texturing.

On July 19, 2013 and again on July 21, we had our first measurable rainfall since the repairs were completed. The roof starting leaking and the drywall quickly came down again. Soon after I contacted [redacted] and he came out on July 24 to inspect the problem. I accompanied him onto the roof of the house and we quickly discovered that the repairs, which been paid for had not been completed. [redacted] could not explain why this had happened, but he quickly arranged for the repairs to be made.

The roof repairs have now been made but JLC has not accepted responsibility for its negligence. If JLC had completed the roof repairs when contracted to do so in April our ceiling would not require repairs for a second time.

Since first hiring JLC Roofing to install a new roof on my home in 2002, I have always called them first for my roof repairs at multiple properties. I have always been satisfied with the service and have frequently made recommendations to friends and clients when asked. This seems to have changed.

The ceiling has not yet been fixed since we are waiting for JLC’s acceptance of responsibility and a commitment to either pay for, or make arrangements to repair. This situation is long overdue and we are tired of looking at it. Please respond by September 5 with a return telephone call before we make other arrangements for repair and resolution. I have attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] and left messages, he has left several messages with our office but I have been unable to speak with him directly. Still trying to make contact to resolve this issue.
