Review: We contacted JLK on 6/17/15 to ask that they send someone out to look at our Septic System to see what might be happening to kill the grass over the septic tank. On 6/18/15 two JLK employees showed up to look at the tank. One man looked and returned and remained in the truck while the other opened the clean out and looked in. He said the tank needed to be pumped and once it was pumped they would come back and seal the tank and the clean out vent pipe. They were here for no more than 30 minutes. When my wife called there was no mention of what the charge would be for them to look at the tank and see what was causing the grass to die over the septic tank. On 7/10/15 I finally spoke with Joe, the owner of JLK.and he said he spoke to my wife and explained that they charged $135.00 an hour. My wife does not remember any conversation about a price or that there would be a travel charge. Had this been explained we would not have chosen someone from Charlottesville to do any work. On 7/6/15 we received a bill for $202.50 for the service. Joe agreed to reduce the price for 1/2 hour by $67.50. This lowered the price for the call to $135.00. I feel that we are being over charged for amounted to an evaluation which was not even factual. Absolute Septic Service came out the following day and pumped the tank and said there was no reason to seal the lid or the clean out pipe. The information given by JLK plumbers was totally wrong and appears to be another effort to charge for unnecessary work. This entire episode was totally avoidable with proper communication by JLK.Desired Settlement: There should not be any charge for this service and should have been handled by someone other than two people coming out to determine why we were having grass die over the septic tank. I guess it looked like an opportunity to take advantage of a woman since it was a woman who made the call.
