This is in reply to the complaint made by [redacted], ID #[redacted]After...

diagnosing the problem with the existing bathroom vent I wrote up an estimate of $500 that Ms. [redacted] agreed to and signed on October 25th, 2017, prior to the work being performed. During this first visit I explained to Ms [redacted] that the job would take about 2 hours, (not 2 guys as Ms [redacted] believes). Ms [redacted] is correct that there was some miscommunication between [redacted] and I about bringing some shingles from our shop, but she didn't have to pay extra for the extra trip nor the shingles as she is claiming. The price remained $500. Ms [redacted] is contending that the amount of time has to do with the price, and in small part, it did when drafting the contract. However, this wasn't a time and material contract and not the only factor taken into consideration when coming up with a price on job this small in scale. It was a bulk priced contract. On our second visit I explained to Ms [redacted] to quell her concerns; with drive time to the site (the first time, not including the 2nd trip) it took [redacted] a just under an hour and a half to complete the job. Regardless of the amount of time, I never lead Ms [redacted] to believe that I based the price off of time. It would have been $500 if it took us 10 minutes or 10 hours. Other factors go into coming up with a price for a contract. I explained to Ms [redacted] on our second visit, after the work had been completed, that we are not a one man company, we have an overhead, insurance to pay and office staff to pay, etc. I explained that if I based a small job like this on just time and material we would have had to pass on the job because there simply wouldn't be enough money in it for us to make a profit and do business with her. When Ms [redacted] speaks about me telling her in hindsight, that "we probably shouldn't have done business." she is misleading. I stated to Ms [redacted] if she thought the contract was too costly on the day I made the contract, then naturally, she shouldn't have signed the contract to begin with. Again she cited the time as an issue of contention, but after the fact. However, we did everything that was mentioned on the contract. Despite completing the work specified on the contract and not to mention, fixing the original problem, I offered Ms [redacted] $50 off (10% off) the agreed price as a courtesy for the miscommunication on my part with the shingles which caused us to work at sun down, and her overall dissatisfaction. Ms [redacted] refused my offer several times. I accepted the payment. As a last stitch effort to accommodate her I had the office send Ms [redacted] a check for $50. I believe this is fair.

I'm responding to the above complaint.  The only thing I received from JM Remodeling is my lien waiver and a survey in the mail.  Nothing else.If there is something else that I need to do, please let me know.
