February 25, Re: Complaint # [redacted] Customer Information: [redacted] Morrisville , PA Customer’s Statement of the Problem: I became a customer of JM Resources, a home security contractor, on February 12, After an inadequate response to a recent request for an upgrade in service, I switched to a different alarm monitoring service on February of this yearJM Resources promptly sent me a bill for $562.35, claiming that the contract I signed in had an automatic-renewal clause, and therefore my contractual obligation does not expire until February 12, I have informed the company that the automatic-renewal clause in that contract is voidable under current Pennsylvania law because it does not comply with the stipulations in P.S§ 517.7(e)(11)Frankly, I think they know this, and simply hope that consumers do notI note that JM Resources failed to inform me of any automatic renewal in or To whom it may concern: We at JM Resources have serviced [redacted] since First it should be understood that Mr [redacted] contacted JM on January 8, and following his request Ms G [redacted] sent him a proposal and requested that he acknowledge his acceptance in order that we may schedule his work He never returned any written response that authorized his acceptance of the quote Please note that our representative also attempted to call Mr [redacted] that same day but the phone “just rang with no answering machine” Henceforth Mr [redacted] called our office on February 11, and stated that no one ever contacted him Upon review we discovered that we had already spoken and emailed him On this date Ms G [redacted] apologized and resent the original proposal that again was never authorized to have completed We also had Andy S [redacted] call Mr [redacted] and explain that our technician could and would assist him at deciding what he needed once his was at the residence On February 18, we received Mr [redacted] ’s cancellation of current services It should also be understood that our official agreement of February 12,was an agreement of years and it is legally renewing Mr [redacted] is inaccurate about Pennsylvania law and it should be understood that alarm monitoring services are permitted to renew Mr [redacted] was informed of this obligation and was even sent a copy of his agreement We believe JM Resources has provided proper services, and has continued to meet our professional obligations We expect Mr [redacted] to remit the contracted amount or we we will pursue collection efforts Sincerely Larry K [redacted] President
