of JM Flooring was hired by my contractor, *** of *** to install flooring in my home in 2018. To date, the flooring is incomplete and was not performed in accordance with industry standards, directly resulting in unremedied damage to the flooring. A flooring inspection report was completed by Mr. *** of ***, which was provided on February 7, 2018. As detailed in the inspection report, JM Flooring "failed to follow the manufacturer's installation instructions" when installing the luxury vinyl plank flooring in January 2018. The inspection report also states that "No moisture barrier was installed," "No moisture tests of the subfloor were taken or recorded prior to installation," and "No subfloor self-leveling was performed prior to installation"--which are all contrary to standard industry practices for flooring installation. In July 2018, JM Flooring attempted to remediate this issue by installing new flooring ON TOP OF THE EXISTING FLOORING after placing a self-leveling compound in three (3) places. This fix did not work, however, and the flooring continues to buckle, separate, and break due to Mr. failure to properly inspect and install the original flooring. Moreover, the attempted repair failed to include new flooring in one of the hall closets and there are conspicuous, unsightly gaps in the flooring around each of the doorposts, causing further splitting and damage to the flooring planks throughout the house which need to be repaired and/or installed correctly. I have collected proposals to repair/replace the flooring with the same luxury vinyl plank product used originally, which total to be an estimated cost of $14,398.64, including labor and materials.

This letter is in response to the complaint received from the Revdex.com on 02/23/2020.Concerning the complaint from ID # 14132497.My company was hired by *** to install flooring for the remodeled home in question January 2018.After the floor was installed there were separation issues.I was concerned so I PERSONALLY HIERD *** OF *** AND ASSOCIATES to help determine the problem. In 30 plus years of installing I have never had this problem.I felt that it may be a product issue. After the inspection MR. determined the issue could have been due to floor levelness.I immediately set up a meeting with the homeowner to discuss what needed to be done.My sole intentions were to rectify the problem. The homeowner immediatelay began to insult me using extremely vile language and degrading comments. At this point I had already been paid by First City for the job.I was only there to fix the problem.I would like to add that the homeowner also treated the job superintendent the same way on a different occasion to a point he refused to return to this job.We read the report from Mr. and I determind there was reasonable doubt. So I immedately schedualed to replace the floors at my expence. We leveld 3 spots 10ft x 10ft in each area.Beyond where there was seperation. I would like to add,we had to clean every inch of the floors in order toto install the new floors. The house one month after occupancy was in total disarray, toys everywhere, play dough on the floors walls and counterspaces. It is costum for rooms and floors be clean prior to installation. We did not use a moisture barrier due to the type of Luxury Vinyl Plank we were installing. We used a Duralux product. It does not have a cork backing. It is a recomendation to us a moisture barrier when there is a cork backing.LVP is a waterproof product. The barrier is to protect the cork. The new floor is installed over the existing floor which is also waterproof. Also no cork backing.Vinyl does not expand or contract so it dosent buckle. It can buckle however under extream weight being slid and or abuse to the surface are inflicted.Arter we replaced the floor the homeowner inspected thoroughly and approved. The homeowner refused to allow *** to inspect and would only open the door enugh to speak. They are now in a lawsuit to try to collect for the remodel.I took all of the steps to make this job right on my part.I did not heare anything from this homeowner until now that there was a problem. The 14398.64 dollar quote is very questionable.I paid 5200 dollars for a better flooring than the original.Labor for installing is 2.75 per square foot that which equals 3575 in addition to 5200 for product totaling 8775 for local standard pricing. I feel this homeowner isinvolving me in their dispute with First City and I went above and beyond to do the right thing, To this day they will still not allow the builder on the property. I have always stood behind my work.My business is dependant on refferals so cus***er satisfaction is top priority. May I suggest someone stop in and take a look at the house and form your own opinion,as to what may be the problem. I guarantee my work for 1 year. After seeing the condition of the inside of this home after one month it would not be fair to accuse me of poor work 2 years later.

Sincerely JM Flooring

Complaint: 14132497

Mr.’s response is riddled with contemptuously false
statements, further demonstrating his blatant lack of professionalism, honesty,
and workmanship.Mr. was notified within days in July 2018 that the
attempted repair of the flooring was unsuccessful and incomplete while Michael ***, the project manager of ***, was in the home to inspect the flooring. Mr. called Mr. from the house
and texted him pictures of the gaps, buckling, and other issues with the
flooring—I was standing next to Mr. at the time. For Mr. to state that he had no knowledge of the issues
with the attempted repair is false.Mr. offered to fill the conspicuous gaps around the
doorposts with brown caulk. But it was
unsightly and unacceptable. Neither
*** nor Mr. did anything else to repair the damaged
flooring or complete the work. Mr.
made no such representation to us that he offered a one-year warranty. In any case, he breached his warranty by abandoning
the job.Further, it should be noted that Mr. did not install
the original flooring; he hired it out and was negligent by not overseeing the
installation. Given the immediately
obvious issues with the flooring, we inquired what went wrong and he told us
that he had installed the flooring himself. We later found out that he did NOT install the flooring himself and that
he had lied directly to us.It is also untrue that Mr. leveled “3 spots 10ft x
10ft.” These spots were no more than 12
inches in diameter each and did not resolve the leveling issue that resulted in the damaged flooring. When we expressed our concern that repairing the flooring
would be a major interruption and displace our family, Mr. promised to
move everything. The attempted repair
lasted 6 days and was a indeed a significant interruption. Not only that, he left a mess and marked up
the walls during the attempted repair which we also showed to Mr. when
he inspected the flooring in July 2018.The $14,398.64 quote came directly from a preferred vendor of
Floor and Décor. Unfortunately, the only
way for the flooring to be properly installed is to have the existing damaged
flooring entirely removed and new flooring installed by a professional service
provider. We reassert our claim that we are owed at least $14,398.64
for the flooring installation to be completed by a professional service
provider.
