It is true that Ms*** did sustain hail damage to her dwelling and JNS Builders worked with her insurance company to identify the damage and jointly come up with a scope of work and an estimated amount to complete the repairs. The necessary repairs to her roof were completed in 1-days
around August 13th and the fascia and gutters were completed in 1-days around Oct 14th. It is also true, as she stated in her email to us on 11-11-that she was happy with the work we performed, "The roof and gutters look great, and work well"Part of the reason the roof looks great and works well is the installation of closed valleys. In addition to looking nice, closed valleys add an extra layer of protection. First we run a course of Ice and Water shield up the valley, which is above and beyond what is required by code, then the valley tin is installed and finally the shingles are installed in a weaved pattern. The valley tin we use is also more expensive than regular valley tin. I can show Ms*** the invoice from our material supplier showing the valley tin that was purchased. So, with respect to the concerns about the valley tin, it was properly installed and no refund will be givenWhen a hail storm hits, the trades people get very busy. We were able to get the roofing crew out there in a very short time which was key to ensure there would be no leaking due to the hail damage. However, the gutter/fascia installers were backand it took some time to get the crew out there. So yes, that work was performed a few weeks later. Unfortunately, the dumpster was at Ms*** residence for approximately weeks, although not the weeks she claims. We had called the dumpster company multiple times to pick it up and I can't explain why it took so long for them to do soAfter reading the complaint, I was very concerned about all the attempts Ms*** claims she made to get a hold of us. Six different times she mentions her attempts"numerous messages", " I had called several times again", "I am calling again", "after several phone calls", "I make more phone calls to Nick at JNS", "I call Nick". I decided to pull the phone records from our carrier and found that from August 1st to the present, there were only incoming calls from Mrs***, once on Sept21st and once on Sept28th. She spoke with Nick about the gutter/fascia work and the dumpster. In that same time period Nick made calls to Ms*** in an attempt to talk with her and get her questions/concerns addressedWhen people won't talk to us or call us back, we start to suspect that they have spent their insurance money and don't have money to pay us. Although we had made repeated attempts, we hadn't received any response from Ms*** for two and a half months and were therefore forced to put a lien on her houseMoving forward, we will continue to make efforts to communicate with Ms*** and get any issues resolved Sincerely, Dennis *** JNS Builders ###-###-####

[redacted], This is the first time I have heard of this issue with your siding.  I will coordinate a time with you immediately and will have someone out to remedy the situation immediately.  I apologize that no one has contacted you sooner. Steve [redacted]PresidentJNS Builders, LLC

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.
JNS has been to the home on 8/9 and responded to my complaint. They also sent a follow-up email 8/15/2016 (see below) with their course of action.

[redacted],

I left you a voicemail last week but just wanted to follow up in an email. Steve and I were able to stop at your house and see what’s going on. We temporarily put that piece of siding back up so you don’t have a piece of siding missing but I went ahead and ordered a couple new pieces so they should arrive in the next 1-2 weeks. We will also fix a couple metal rain diverters on the roof.

Another thing your son showed me was some hairline cracks in the stone. I took pictures to document them as it would fall under a product warranty issue. I will get ahold of a Versetta Stone representative and see what they can do to rectify it. Unfortunately with our climate, stone and concrete have a tendency to crack (similar to how concrete driveways crack) so that may be something we want to just monitor to make sure they don’t get any worse.

Lastly, I ran an idea by your son to fill in those 3 spots along the front of your house where the concrete drive was poured along the old brick. Since stone veneer is much thinner then brick there are those gaps. I could blend it in with new concrete so you don’t have that separation from the stone to the driveway. Just give me the ok if that is what you want me to do.

Please feel free to give me or Steve a call if you have any questions.

Thank you and have a great day!

JNS Builders is a great company. They are very professional. I was extremely pleased with them and the work they did. I would never hesitate to call them again.

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2015/01/21) */
JNS Builders was contracted on 8/7/13 by Mr. [redacted] to repair damage to his roof, siding, and gutters resulting from a hail storm that hit the area on August 6, 2013. The roof was completed on 10/14/13, the siding on 11/27/13 and...

gutters on 12/4/13. During the process of repairs Mr. [redacted] was informed that he had had prior water intrusion problems, which JNS repaired and are well photo- documented. In addition, prior to any of the repairs being completed, Mr. [redacted] showed our salesperson,[redacted], around his house to show him condensation on the panes of his windows and requested we give him a bid "down the road" to replace them as they had been a continual problem.
In mid-December Mr. [redacted] called JNS to say there was a leak in his front entry and master bath. We sent out our project manager, [redacted], to inspect the problem. During this time [redacted] photo documented condensation on the interior sheathing in the attic and prior water stains in the front entry. He also photographed the roof showing that snowfall had completely covered the vents on his roof - an issue that is caused by excessive snowfall and is the homeowner's responsibility to keep clear. It should also be noted that the house has never had any water intrusion issues during heavy rainfall only during winter thaws.
As spring approached JNS requested a water test to demonstrate that any water issues Mr. [redacted] was having was not due to a leaking roof. Mr. [redacted] continually avoided having us perform this test mostly by not responding to our requests and finally by suggesting he wanted a person from his insurance company to look at it.
In May of 2014, upon request of final payment, Mr. [redacted] brought up that he had had some pottery damaged during the installation of his roof and siding nearly 8 months after its completion. Over the course of the summer of 2014, JNS attempted to contact Mr. [redacted] for resolution no less than a dozen times with no response.
In September of 2014, I personally wrote Mr. [redacted], explaining that I wanted nothing more than to verify all work we did was completed correctly, to compensate him for any damage to his personal belongings damaged during installation and make sure all of us were content with the project. I never personally received a response from him. Only until I had my secretary follow-up several times did Mr. [redacted] reply explaining that he wanted yet another person to look at his home.
JNS Builders has made every attempt possible to assure that Mr. [redacted] project was completed correctly and to rectify any problems if they are the cause of faulty installation. I have personally reached out to Mr. [redacted] to sit down with him and figure out how to make all parties happy. It is my utmost concern that each and every project and client we have is satisfied with the end result of the project. Unfortunately, Mr. [redacted] does not want to come to the table. As a business owner, I had no other recourse but to file a mechanics lien for the $12,251.24 that Mr. [redacted] is in arrears on the project. If there is another fair, concrete and specific way Mr. [redacted] would like to resolve this issue we would gladly remove the lien on his property once an agreement is reached.

[redacted],

This is the first time I have heard of this issue with your siding.  I will coordinate a time with you immediately and will have someone out to remedy the situation immediately.  I apologize that no one has contacted you sooner.
