The LCSW I met with at this firm wasn't Joan C[redacted], but Claudia D[redacted]. All I can say is, if you want a real psychotherapist who will truly understand and support you, keep searching. One of my major reasons for going to therapy is because I was bullied, made fun of, and traumatized in a few other ways by other children while growing up. Claudia practically defended the kids who were mean to me, saying that they were just kids, probably had issues of their own and had the same bad things happen to them, blah blah blah. One of those children who hurt me was a neighbor girl whom was younger than me, but take my word for it when I say she knew her actions were wrong. I'd tell Ms. Dellabitta about this one hurtful thing the girl did, and she'd say "But she was just a little girl," or some other generic excuse. So yeah, Claudia made it sound like this girl's actions were completely fine, and made it sound like my pain and trauma didn't matter. Ms. Dellabitta even said something that made it sound like it was my fault this neighbor girl hurt me. When I informed her that she just made it sound like that, she asked if I could learn to forgive myself. I beg your pardon, but I wasn't the one initiating inappropriate behavior with someone else when I knew we shouldn't be doing it and that it made the other person uncomfortable! Like I said, the girl was younger than me, but she knew what she was doing was wrong, and there was absolutely no justification for it; those excuses Claudia kept shoving down my throat aren't going to convince me otherwise. So yes, if you want a psychotherapist who will definitely support and understand you, avoid Claudia D[redacted] like the plague. Children are smarter than adults give them credit for, and guess what else? They're not all sweet and innocent, and there is never an excuse for the horrible things they do to others. Anyone else who was bullied, made fun of, and/or harmed in any other way by other kids while growing up, should know and understand exactly what I'm talking about.
