Review: Job Journal advertises job fairs that do not deliver the companies they advertise. For example, they claim in their ads that hundreds of employers from major companies will attend their job fair, however, less than twenty attend and recruiters are the only companies in attendance. In addition, for the past five months I've unsubscribed with this company yet they continue to send unwanted email advertisements about job fairs that do not have the advertised companies in attendance. In general, Job Journal uses deceptive advertising. I do not want to receive emails from this company and as I've requested for months to remove my email from their marketing announcements.Desired Settlement: DesiredSettlementID: Other (requires explanation)

I want my email address removed from Job Journal. I do not want to receive Job Journal's deceptive job fair advertisements. Although I've used the 'unsubscribe' feature, I continue to receive unwanted email advertisements from Job Joural "Hirevents".

Job Journal has produced nearly 400 HIREvents since 1992. For many years, it has been our practice to release a complete list of company names and position titles on our website three days prior to each event. That way, jobseekers can prepare and determine whether they'd like to attend. We never advertised hundreds of companies, but we do advertise hundreds of jobs (if they are available). Employers are there to recruit for multiple openings and we publish the job titles we know will be available at each event. Some free and community events do advertise hundreds of companies, so it's possible we're being confused with another job fair organization.

The email address in question had already been removed from our system prior to receiving this complaint. It is Job Journal's policy to promptly remove anyone who requests that we do so; however, it sometimes takes a few weeks for a request to be processed.
