this has caused the customer.  We did provide the customer with several options for reimbursement of their delay expenses, to enable them to choose the compensation which was best for their particular circumstance. The spread of dates for delivery was through July 7.  As the original spread of dates were agreed upon between the carrier and the customer, there would be no delay compensation paid before July 7th.  The customer would be responsible for their own living expenses up until that date. The dates for load and delivery are not guaranteed; they are agreed upon dates.  As a federally-regulated carrier, we are not permitted to issue refunds due to the servicing of the shipment.  This is why we offer to work with the customer in providing delay compensation.  The charges are based upon weight, miles travelled, and additional expenses such as packing and crating, if needed.  Below are the options that were available for the customer to choose from for delay compensation. These options would start on the last day of their delivery spread, and end on the day of delivery.  Only one option can be chosen from the list. 1.            You would be eligible for up to $310.00 to make purchases for items of necessity for the home. Please be advised that we do not reimburse for toiletries or groceries, as these items would need to be purchased regardless of your shipment arriving. The types of items that we do reimburse for are air mattresses, sheets, blankets, pillows, pack n play (if needed), pots, pans, dishes, silverware, etc. This option would require itemized receipts for the purchases made. Please be sure to send those in along with the completed delay claim form for processing. These can only be purchased the day your spread window ends. 2.            You would be reimbursed $50.00 per day for every day the delivery is late. This would start on the last day of your delivery spread, and it would end on day of delivery. This option does not require receipts. Please send in the delay claim form with your registration number, how many days the shipment was late, and that you went with this option. On the form where it says list itemized expenses, you may write $50.00 per day. 3.            You would be authorized for a midrange hotel ($90-$100/night plus tax)dependent upon the area you are relocating to, and 50% of meal receipts excluding alcohol. Please submit the hotel bill and all restaurant receipts for consideration, along with the completed delay claim form. Because the Interstate moving services were performed, we must collect the total charges that were due and therefore no refund is available beyond the delay compensation already offered to the customer. Sincerely, Walter F.
