Joe Burns Insurance Reviews (%countItem)

My cabin bathroom water pipe broke and flooded the up and downstairs of my cabin. The cabin was last rented on March 28, 2020 and the flood was discovered on April 6, 2020 by my management company. My management company *** acted quickly and professionally. The contacted *** who also acted quickly and professionally, to place fans and dehumidifiers in the cabin. I contacted my insurer Joe Burns Insurance, Crossville Tennessee on April 7, 2020. *** Insurance Company, Grand Rapids Michigan was handling the claim for Joe Burns Insurance. No one to my knowledge every contacted me from Joe Burns Insurance company to this date. Ms. *** with *** Insurance Company was handling the claim and has never visited the property to this date. Ms. Blosky asked that I get a bid which I did on April 16, 2020. The first bid was for $25,596.61 and I included over 30 pictures taken by the contractor with the bid. I have email confirmation for this and a response from MS *** thanking me for the information. That very day, April 17, 2020 Foremost printed a check at 2:27 that afternoon for $11, 362.79, less than half of the contractor *** Construction) quote. I don't think Ms. considered my contractors price and I have leaned on May 4, 2020 that Ms. said she did NOT receive the pictures. I had confirmed e-mails and resent them on May 4, 2020. This confirms my suspicion that Ms. did not consider my contractors quote. Ms. asked me to obtain another quote which I did on e-mailed to her on April 28, 2020. The second quote was from *** Construction for $32,202.50. Ms. rejected the second bid. Both construction companies are licensed in Tennessee and both estimates were specifically designed to return the cabin to its original condition. I believe that Joe Burns Insurance Company and *** Insurance Company conspired to reduce reasonable and legitimate payments to settle my claim. I have detailed records.

Desired Outcome

Replacement Simple, I have two licensed contractor quotes to repair my cabin to the condition it was prior to the flood, choose either quote and I would be satisfied. I don't want to file a legal action, but will if necessary. I just want my cabin to be repaired. I have all the detailed communications between Ms. Foremost Insurance Group, and Joe Burns Insurance which indicate the lack of response or care. All the work, pictures, estimating, e-mailing etc.was done by me and my vendors.

Joe Burns Insurance Response • May 20, 2020

We received your inquiry dated May 6, 2020, regarding Mr. dissatisfaction with the claim settlement. We appreciate the opportunity to review this matter and to provide you with a response.

We are pleased to inform you that on May 19, 2020, we reached an agreement as to the repair costs of the damages and are in the process of issuing a supplemental payment to Mr.. This will restore his property to pre-loss condition. Based on our initial review of the estimate provided by Mr. contractors, we determined the estimates included repairs that were not necessary to restore the property to its pre-loss condition. Due to Covid-19 restrictions, we were unable to inspect Mr. property and we relied on photos submitted by his contractor. However, after receiving your inquiry, he allowed us to send a local contractor out to review the damages.

To confirm that the scope of damages was correct an independent contractor visited the property and completed an estimate for the repairs, which included providing supporting photos. All of which have been provided to Mr.. Now that we have established what is actually damaged, we have adjusted our estimate and explained the settlement to Mr.. At this time, all parties agree.

We are sorry for any frustrations that Mr. experienced during our handling of the claim and are pleased to inform you that this matter is now resolved. If you have any questions about this letter, you may contact me at ***@***.com or by phone at (XXX)XXX-XXXX.

Sincerely,
