We had a bad experience with SMI. My wife had a piece of plywood hit her car on the interstate and damage the front of it. We contacted SMI the next morning when they opened and they told us they could give us an estimate at noon. We dropped it off early at 10am so they would have plenty of time to look at it. We didn't hear back so we called towards the end of the business day. They told us they had been extremely busy and would see it first thing in the morning. No problem, we understand things happen and weren't upset at this point. So the next day we waited for a call but didn't hear anything. Again we called later in the day only to find out that they aren't going to see it until first thing the following morning. A little frustrate we told them that we keep getting pushed back and they just kept saying they are very busy but it will be done first thing. The following day (day 3) we didn't hear back so we called then around 10:30am. They told us that the person in charge of our estimate was in a meeting at the moment and might get to it by the end of morning but might not. I explained that we've been told 3 different times but no one has even bothered to contact us and let us know what is going on. I asked if they could give a more accurate time when they would see it because we were debating on picking the car up and taking it to another shop if it wasn't going to happen that day. The woman on the phone ***) started becoming agitated saying that it's just how the business is and she can't give me an accurate time. She said that the person doing the estimate would contact me about my concerns but also had no idea when he would call me to discuss the issue. Her attitude got worse through the call and she finally said "It'll be done as soon as we get to it, thank you!" and hung up on me. *** We called SMI and told them we are on the way to pick up the car now. We are now picking up our vehicle from SMI and taking it to ***. When we arrived at SMI they apparently did the quote in the time it took for us to drive over and get the car but were unable to get it done in the over 48 hours that they already had it. We understand that a business might be very busy and they cannot see our car immediately but please don't give me 3 different appointment times that you don't meet and get an attitude only to hang up on me. A quick phone call after each missed appointment time to apologize and explain the problem would have gone a long way. We didn't feel like our business was valued.
