Joe Pine Builders, Inc. Reviews (1)

Review: Joe Pine Builders worked on several projects here during 2013. Three of those projects were not completed, however they were paid for.

I have been unsuccessful in getting the company to finish the jobs. It is a small amount of work on each of the jobs that still needs to be done.

At one point, I had an appoint scheduled with Joe Pine, to look at what needed to be done. This was scheduled for morning of 4/17/2014. Joe Pine called to reschedule for the afternoon of that day, but never showed up.

I have tried to reach them via phone and email numerous times during 2013 and 2014, without success. They do not return phone calls or emails.Desired Settlement: I would like these 3 jobs to be completed.

job 1: they built a barn - barn needs an additional 7 boards, which need to have a fire rdant applied before installing.

job 2: they recaulked my home, but ran out of caulk and did not finish the basement door.

job 3: they installed a new front door to my home - the screens that came with the door did not fit, and a new screen needs to be installed. Also, the bottom of the new door is cutting the liner at the bottom of the frame. This needs to be repaired.

Response:

This is in response to the 3 jobs [redacted] wants done:

1. The barn was built better than code and was completed on time. It was inspected by county officials, the insurance company and [redacted] herself. The bill was paid at that time. What she failed to mention was that we came back on three different occasions and repaired the barn where her large horses had damaged it. As time went on the dirt settled in the barn from the large horses and it possibly needs another retainer board around the bottom, which she will expect me to pay for in labor and materials. My being her maintenance man was never part of any contract. We have gone far beyond helping her with this project.

2. The cleaning and re-caulking of the house was also completed. My superintendent on the job, who she has known for years, told her the framework on the door was rotten and pulling away from the block work and needed replaced. Caulking was only a band-aid and it would pull away from the caulking. She did not want to replace the door at that time.

3. Door replacement was our labor only. She bought the door after a lengthy discussion with the supplier. The door operated perfectly when we were there. She did not want the screens that came with the door and she ordered different ones.

In conclusion, we went out of our way to please [redacted] but are unable to do so. I’ve answered her calls and have told her that I would stop by when I was over that way. I could go over and look at these items for her but I know she will not pay me for the fixes that we are not responsible for. She has a farm and is in need of a handy man.

Thank you

Response:

I have reviewed the offer made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

Please see attached file for details.

Regards,

Project 1: 7 additional boards in barn

Without inspecting the issue of the 7 additional boards, [redacted] has made incorrect assumptions. There has been no additional settling of

dirt in the barn. The presence of horses, which is why the barn was built, has no

effect on the need for 7 additional boards

Four of these 7 additional boards are needed in areas where my horses do

not have access. The fact is the boards should have been installed in the

construction process, the presence or absence of horses is irrelevant. I

requested these boards during the construction, and it was not done.

Project 2: caulking not completed

The caulking of the basement door was part of the recaulking

of the entire house. The basement door caulking was not completed. Once again, without

inspecting the door, [redacted] has made incorrect statements. I myself have

inspected the framework around the door. I do not see any rot.

Project 3 Installing new front door

It is true that [redacted]’s company was responsible for

installing the door. As such, I expect it to be installed in such a way that

the door does not damage the liner at the bottom of the frame. As for the

screens, the reason I ordered a different screen was because his representative

told me that the screens that came with the door would not work

[redacted] has not answered my calls or emails since April of

2014, when he failed to show up for an appointment here at my property to

discuss these issues. [redacted] refers to these issues as ‘fixes’. However, they

represent 3 jobs which remain incomplete, and for which he has been paid. **

[redacted] has repeatedly stated that he stands behind his work. Let him do so now.
