The vehicle was not brought into the shop for smog related problemsIt was brought in for an overheating problemThis required head gasket replacement and cylinder head replacement/repairThere was a check engine light on with codes related to a misfire and transmission problemHead gaskets repairs resolved the Misfire issue and for the transmission code the customer was referred to a transmission shopThe vehicle was at the shop for longer than anticipatedDue to this there was a discount on repairs given to the customerMy last communication with the customer he was still experiencing a check engine light due to the transmission codeI have had no further contact with the customer in regards to any problems

Attached is all the supporting documentation that the repairs were done as authorized by the customerThe vehicle was brought in for an overheating heating problem with a check engine lightThe overheating repairs were completed per the invoiceThe check engine light code was for a transmission code and the customer was referred to a transmission shopWhere the customer chose not to complete the repairs needed from transmission shopTo our knowledge in the customers complaint he has not stated any issue with overheating which again is what the vehicle was brought in forIn addition the customer has never called us to state there is an issueAlso when the repairs were completed the customer was given a discount which covered the cost of the cylinder head and in other parts that were used in the overheating repair of the vehicleAny questions please feel free to contact us

I received your letter today and I would like to pursue this matter furtherThe plaintiff claims that my vehicle was brought in for a heating problem and that he changed the heads because they were damaged beyond repair and also that he changed head gasketsThat never happenedHe also told me that he broke a bolt on the exhaust gasket and had to take the head back off to repair what he had brokenThese incidents never happened because when I got the vehicle back, after *** having it for 1/months, I checked the exhaust bolts and they were rusted and had never been changedAlso, he put some black head gaskets sealer into the radiator to fix the problemI am mechanically inclined and I do know when an engine has been patchedI took pictures of the "goo" in the radiator and the radiator capAlso, the bolts were never touched on the heads and exhaust"Only!" the valve cover gaskets were replaced at least the bolts were replaced from what I can seeMy heads were supposed to have been rebuilt and they weren't.I want to be reimbursed for what I paid for because I did not get my moneys worthI'm enclosing a copy of the receipt so that you can see what he charged me for and did not do the work

I received a copy of the original letter I had sent youMy rebuttal is that Joe's Auto Repair did not take the heads off, rebuilds both of them or take them to a machine shop to have them rebuilt like he told me he had doneThere were no new head bolts installed, like the owner of the shop saidYes, he did repair the overheating problem, like he stated, temporarily by putting a head gasket repair additiveMy engine started overheating 1/month laterThat was not worth $1,because the work he charged me for was never completedYes, there was a transmission code detected but that would not make the car not pass smog or repair the water leak I'm havingI did take the car back to him, twice, and he told me he installed a new fuel railI don't know if you can read a copy of the bill I sent to you but it states that both heads were damaged, one head was allegedly exchanged and he verbally told me the heads were then taken to another shop and rebuiltAlso, both head gaskets were replacedMy question to you is why would a mechanic not put new gaskets on if the heads were allegedly rebuiltYou cannot reinstall used head gasketsAs for as the $discount he gave me, the owner discounted it from the $2,he was going to charge meHe didn't write the estimate and give me a copyAs I stated when I spoke to you on the phone the overheating did not occur until I returned timesI then contacted B.A.Rthe 3rd time I started having leaking (severely) and overheating problemsI was completely fed up by thenYou can actually see that no bolts were taken off the timing cover, exhaust manifold and intake manifold only new valve cover gaskets and bolts were changedNo new oil filter and oil were changed eitherI would like my vehicle repaired the correct wayAlso, I was left without a vehicle for 1/months and it was very difficult to attend my doctor visits, as well as other appointmentsPlease help me resolve this matter because I don't wish to deal with Joe's Auto Repair any furtherIf you have any questions you would like answered please feel free to call me at ***

In regards to the repairs in question and the customers statements: All items listed were performed prior to the vehicle being returned to the customerIncluding the fuel pressure regulator needed to stop a fuel leakThe customer (***) was then referred to a transmission shop for the transmission code with a check engine light onIf the check engine light is onIf the check engine light is on before or during a smog test the vehicle will fail the smogTest visual/functional test. After removing his vehicle from the transmission shopThe customer asked to have other code cleared so he may see how long it might stay offNo additional repairs were performed at this time by Joe's Auto Repair. We have not had any contact from the customer regarding leaks or overheating problems that according to the customers letter to you started two and half months after the repairs were completedIt is possible that a new problem had developed, these items were not the problem at the time of repairs (a hose, water pump, radiator).*** has contacted the bureau of automotive repairThe case investigator has inspected the vehicle and informed the customer that the cylinder heads have been removed and new gaskets installedThe investigator did not believe any stop leak had been installedThe meeting I had with the B.A.R aqent took place on 5-2-and we discussed some options for possibly helping ***, but it does not appear based on the letter you forwarded me that this is and option. We are concerned about the problems he is having and regret any inconvenience this has caused him.Thank you*** ***Owner Joe's Auto Repair
