Joe's Auto Body, Inc. Reviews (1)

Joe's Auto Body was on police call to tow my car. He refused to tow to my body shop and forced me to sign a receipt and pay him [redacted] to not tow me.The tow truck driver refused to tow to the shop of my preference, and said that I was saving money by paying him [redacted] up front to not tow my car to his shop. He told me that if I did not pay him and sign the receipt he would be forced to tow my car and charge me an extra [redacted] storage charge. He lied and said the car would not be able to come off the flatbed at my shop of choice, but the other driver I called had no problems doing this. The driver from Joe's was very rude and rushed all of my decisions and made it seem as if I had no other option than to pay him and sign the receipt.Desired SettlementI would like my [redacted] returned because there was no service provided to me. I should not have to pay for nothing.Business Response When on-police-emergency calls Joe's Auto Body, Inc., the tow driver is required to clear the roads as soon as possible (so as to not block traffic) and tow all vehicles with wheel or suspension damage to the Joe's Auto Body lot. Once at the lot, Joe's Auto Body has all the necessary tools such as floor jacks and other equipment to ensure that no further damage is done to the vehicle while getting it off of the flat bed. It is then up to the owner to make the necessary arrangements to have their preferred repair shop pick the vehicle up from the Joe's Auto Body lot. In this particular case, the vehicle in question skid off the road and ended up in a snow bank at a private lot. This accident resulted in right back wheel damage and suspension damage. The procedure mentioned above was explained to the owner of the vehicle at the scene of the accident. The owner decided not to have Joe's Auto Body perform the tow (which he has the right to do since the vehicle was not blocking traffic at that time). The tow driver explained to the owner that although he did not want Joe's Auto Body to tow his vehicle, he was still responsible for the dispatch fee of [redacted] as well as the gas fee of [redacted] for a total of [redacted] The tow driver then asked the police officer at the scene if it was okay for the owner of the vehicle to contact his preferred auto repair shop to come and tow the vehicle. The police officer indicated that this was okay, and the parties could do as they wish as long as they came to an agreement. The tow driver, in the police officer's presence, then requested the owner to sign a waiver, indicating that he did not wish to have Joe's Auto Body conduct the tow. The owner agreed to the signing and paid the tow driver the [redacted] fee in cash. At no time was the owner forced to sign the statement. He did so at his own free will. The tow driver remained at the scene for over 12 minutes while the owner contacted his preferred auto repair shop.Joe's Auto Body, Inc. has been in business since 1987. We are a small, family owned business with a good reputation and a clean record. Please let me know if there is anything I can do to have this matter resolved efficiently and in a professional manner.
