Joe's Carport & Metal Buildings Reviews (1)

Revdex.com:
I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted], and have determined that this does not resolve my complaint.  For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.
[To assist us in bringing this matter to a close, we would like to know your view on the matter.]
To reply to this message, I need to address
Joe’s Garage’s points separately;
DESCRIPTION ( [redacted])
(Customer demands full refund of deposit due to
lack of communication between salesman & mfg.)
DESCRIPTION ( DEALER)
MR. [redacted] ordered a custom garage under contract
of which he agreed & signed. To supply him with a custom built
24x31x12 garage to be built on a concrete pad supplied by customer.
The above is true, although he left out the part about him referring
me to a number of his concrete men. Joe started out being a “friend in the
business.”
Customer called in at later date
& said local code informed him he needed a 4' footer under his pad. He was
very hostile due to more cost of concrete even though building code is
there for a reason.
This is where Joe’s memory is getting fuzzy. I was not hostile
with him whatsoever, but WE BOTH complained about some of the code requirements
that are in place. For example, a 48 inch frost wall that will render a 6 inch
knee wall. More bonding with my new friend.
 I
told him to call me when ready.     (A lot missing here)  At a later date he
called and claimed to be ready.
This is where Joe forgets a lot. His concrete guy, [redacted],
was advised as per the code requirements for the town in which live. A deal was
struck for him to furnish the foundation for this project. He started work in
late September, 2016. Lets just say that [redacted] could have made better use of the
time. He did not finish so that a final inspection could be made until November
8th. All throughout this time, I had been in constant contact with
my “friend” Joe as per his instruction concerning my concerns about [redacted] work
habits. I was assured by Joe that he was handling [redacted] and that I had nothing
to worry about. During one conversation, I inquired as to how much additional space
would be required for the opening of the 9 foot garage door in the knee wall. I
was advised by Joe that there needs to be a total of five inches greater than
the width of each door. There was never any mention of a requirement as to
where the entry doors would have to be located. I then advised [redacted] of this conversation
with Joe and he built accordingly. After final inspection, I believed to be
ready.

Company sent crew and material for custom
garage to site for install on concrete slab with footer supplied by
customer as code enforcement required from penn. warehouse. When crew
arrived the pad had a knee wall. The building was not designed to be put on a
knee wall & had be modified. At this time Mr. [redacted] became very vulgar and
disrespectful. The building had to be sent back to PA. for modifications
due to knee wall Mr.[redacted] had installed for whatever reason.

This is where Joe goes fictional.
He states” due to knee wall Mr.[redacted] had installed for whatever reason”.
It seems that he has forgotten the past two months entirely. In addition, my language
was tame in regard to the frustration that was building being advised by a
grinning contractor, as he walks over to me and informs me that my foundation’s
entrance door in ½ inch too small but he will fix it for $150.00. After I told
him that no extra money would be paid to fix this as [redacted], the concrete guy,
was still here and would saw the opening himself. Then they “discovered” the knee
wall.????? They walked back to their truck and trailer, which was parked on my
front lawn, leaving [redacted], his helper, and myself looking at each other in
wonder as they started their truck and drove away, leaving large ruts in my
lawn.

After company went over this with him
and added a small fee to it for the additional changes Mr. [redacted] added, the(
knee wall). Mr. [redacted] has been nothing more than extremely vulgar and
disrespectful and canceled the building until a $1500 discount is taken
off the price. His contract fully explains his deposit and payment clearly.
This is where Joe just plain old lies. Nothing fancy here, just
lies. I went in the house to call my friend Joe and let him know what just
happened. He then told me to hold on and he will straighten this out. He just
needed an hour or so. After I hung up the phone, I immediately received a call
from a woman at Carolina Carports yelling at me and telling me that there would
be a $500.00 return fee due to the fact that there was never any mention of a
knee wall on my foundation. I hung up on her, who wouldn’t, and called Joe.
Now, Joe says to me that $500.00 is not that much money given the problems that
I have caused Carolina Carports. ???? He alluded that we had never spoken about
any concrete project whatsoever. My friend was gone! I told him that I would
continue with this project if instead of a $500.00 penalty, I receive a $500.00
discount for MY trouble and aggravation. Now, I inquired about the refund of my
deposit, ($1340.00) and was told that “If we go into a room you won’t like what
happens”. I guess my “friend” Joe has changed his mind.
It is my position that I did not cancel my building project but
the actions or inactions by Joe [redacted] in this endeavor has brought about HIS
ad hoc cancelling of this contract. Therefore, I should be given a full refund.
If that happens, I may not pursue any additional damages.

Regards,
[redacted]
