Follow Kim Tstar rating 7/16/I hired John to fix our brick front steps that were loose after years of useHe came to my house to give us a bid, which seemed reasonableWhile he was fixing them, he told us it was going to cost appoximately $more than originally quoted, as there was more deterioration than realizedWe had no problem with this, as I know that sometimes you don't know the extent of the work neededWhen he was done with the job, he gave me a year warrantyThis of course enhanced his credibility with meAfter the snow thawed, we saw that some of the mortar had come out, and that the steps needed to be fixedI contacted John via email and let him knowHe responded after a few days, and told me he would be out to take a look in a few daysHe didn't show up, and did not get back to meI tried him again, but to no availFinally, my husband contacted him, and let him know that we were trying to get him to come out to fix the stepsJohn then called me back, not my husband, and said he would be out in a day or twoHe did not show upAfter many attempts by email and phone,my husband then sent him a certified letter explaining that if he didn't come out and respond in a timely manner, we would have to take action Finally, in response to the letter, he called my husband back, and got very indignantHe again told us he would come out....he didn'tHe then called, and said the warranty didn't apply because we didn't have a sealerThis is untrue, and the warranty only states that after two years, the sealer must be appliedWhen we pointed this out, he reluctantly came to our houseHe told us he fixed the problemHe is now saying that he will not stand by the work if salt is used on the stepsThere is nothing stated in the warranty regarding thisHe did add more mortar, and "fixed" the stepsHowever, he did a very sloppy job, leaving a bunch of excess mortar on the stepsIt looks like a hack jobIt looks awful!
I am an the service industry as wellIf I ever treated my client's this way, I wouldn't have any clientsDon't use this guyHe absolutely does not stand behind his work!
I only gave him a one star, because this website wouldn't let me give him no stars!

I hired John to replace garage service door, storm doors and exterior doors on my houseHe was punctual, hard working, was meticulous, did the work in a timely manner, and cleaned up afterI would give him stars if I couldGreat experience, and would definitely hire him again
