Review: John M[redacted] does business as John and His Toolbox. He advertises extensively in coupon mailers and on the internet, claiming that he does all aspects of home remodeling and repair. He also advertises that he is fully licensed and insured. In June 2013, he installed a front entry door with transom and sidelights in my home. I paid him $3,281.00. In October, 2014, the front door would not close. I called a contractor who inspected the door and told me that the door frame was warped because it was improperly installed. I called Mr. M[redacted] and asked him to look at the door. He agreed that the door frame was warped but denied any responsibility for the problem, and he refused to take any corrective measures. He was very nasty and told me it was my problem. I have been told by my new contractor that the only permanent solution to the problem is that the entire door unit must be removed and replaced with a new door unit.Desired Settlement: I would like a full refund of the money that I paid to John M[redacted]. I do not want to deal with him any further. I have lost confidence in his honesty, and his ability to perform this kind of work. I am willing to let him keep the door unit that he installed after I have a new door unit installed by someone else.

10/08/14 signed a contract and gave deposit for concrete work to be done. Mid November had to call and postpone work until spring due to cold weather setting in early .Early April 2015 told he would be out in a few weeks. Did the job first week of June while I was on vacation. A big mistake. Asked for more money, said he only estimated for 3.5" thickness of concrete. What was removed was 6" to 7" in most places. Code is min. 6" for driveway skirts and sidewalks in front of driveways. Not my problem!! The completed job was absolutely terrible a concrete nightmare. He said himself he would not accept the completed job if it were at his residence. He said, areas of the job would be redone in a 1&1/2 weeks. Never returned , or heard from all summer. I sent a letter with demands 8/17/15 gave him until 9/17/15 to complete the repairs. The Job is still not completed as of 10/08/15. He believes he should be compensated for his mistake in the thickness. At this point, I have been very patient and no longer wish for the job to be redone by this contractor. Very poor craftsmanship, very poor businessman. I very strongly do not recommend this contractor.

Would not recommend him to anyone.
