They certainly have a right to do so, but it seems odd to me that a company would charge you money in order to tell you what they would charge to do your jobIn other words, estimates are not free with this companyYou pay to have them to come out and assess your needs, and then if their estimate is too high or you feel they're not right for the job, you've already paid them a chunk of money to find that outI declined to do thatAlthough they may do good work (according to reviews), I would not recommend a business "to a friend, family member, neighbor or colleague" that charges to tell you what they'd charge

I called John Baethke and Son Plumbing today out of the blue on the chance that they might be able to come to my house and fix a faucet that has been losing water pressure for several months. The individual who received the call was very gracious and took the time to immediately see if someone could make it out today. He learned that one of their technicians, Rodney, could stop in in about 45 minutes. Rodney appeared within 30 minutes, took a look at the situation as well as the general condition of other faucets and water systems in the house. He made several proposals to deal with the urgent issue and clarified what else might be needed within the next few years. I chose the immediate work, which he did -- solving more than the one problem with which I started (low water pressure), including cleaning out the clogged drain in that sink. I couldn't be more pleased. I have had Baethke at my house in the past and remember the same level of quality and professionalism.
I have used Baethke & Son several times & always the experience is top notch. Their professionalism, work product are superb. They take all the time needed to make you really understand what is being done. They are timely & efficient & you always feel totally comfortable with their workers. Your initial request is handled very quickly & the fact that you can get an actual person 24/7 is such a bonus. Recently I had 8" of sewer water in my basement & they responded quickly & the workers are all industrious. I cannot say enough about this company!

Josh, our plumber, was very professional, organized, and diligent in tackling a bathtub faucet which has leaked for many years and a clogged drain in the tub which has long been problematic. He successfully rectified both issues for us, and did so in a very measured, thorough way, explaining and discussing the work so that we clearly understood the repair process. The work was done meticulously and there was no clean-up for us. It was a pleasure working with Josh; his personable and dependable manner greatly contributed to our overall excellent experience with this plumbing company.
