On Aug 2015, Ms [redacted] brought her Ford Expedition to my shop for our fluid and filter change service With every fluid and filter service we complete a free point inspection of the vehicle to determine if there are any issues with the vehicle’s engine, transmission, and drivetrain When we removed the transmission pan we found excessive amounts of friction material and metal particles in the pan and stuck to the magnet The manager called Ms [redacted] to discuss this with her and that’s when she told him that the vehicle had been jerking sometimes and that she had some engine work done but it was still jerking Chris informed Ms [redacted] that due to the high mileage (197K), the excessive amount of material in the pan, and the drivability issue that we could not change the fluid and filter in her transmissionMs [redacted] was told that she had an internal problem with her transmission and the next step would be to complete an Inspection Service Chris explained that an inspection service consisted of us removing, dismantling, and inspecting (RDI) the transmission which would enable us to accurately make a list of parts needed to repair her transmission and provide her with a detailed quote for the repair Ms [redacted] asked how much that would cost and Chris told her $Chris further explained to Ms [redacted] that this was the labor for removing and reinstalling the transmission and that if she decided to approve the repair that the $would be credited towards the repair Chris also explained that if she decided not to repair the transmission that we would put her transmission back together with its original parts and reinstall it in her vehicle and all she would owe is the $Ms [redacted] gave her approval for us to complete the inspection service and as is always done with telephonic approvals, Chris asked for identifying information from Ms [redacted] as proof of the conversation which he wrote down on her paperwork After the inspection service was completed Chris called Ms [redacted] with an initial quote of $for a reconditioned transmission service with a rebuilt exchanged torque converter This was to rebuild her transmission with our standard warranty Ms [redacted] was never told that she needed “another” transmission We can always repair a transmission for less then what it would cost to get one from a dealership or aftermarket source Ms [redacted] rejected our quote saying she didn’t have the money for that so Chris started working to find possible options to help Ms [redacted] After researching the cost of purchasing used transmissions from a couple of different salvage yards with varying mileage, Chris called Ms [redacted] with quotes for installing them Ms [redacted] told Chris those were outside her budget as well and that she’d call back later to let us know what she had decided to do The next day Ms [redacted] called back demanding to know which salvage yards he had spoken with because she had called around and had gotten a different price then the one we had quoted her Chris explained that the quotes were based off of the prices we were given Ms [redacted] said she still couldn’t pay that much and Chis told her that we don’t usually allow customers to bring in their own parts but if she wanted to purchase a used transmission from somewhere and bring it to us we would install it Chis also explained that at a minimum the used transmission would need to be resealed and receive new fluid and a filter Ms [redacted] said she would think about it and let us know The next morning Ms [redacted] called and said she had decided to have us put her original transmission back in her vehicle so she could take it somewhere else Chris told her that was no problem and we would be happy to do that but that she would still be responsible for the $ Ms [redacted] got angry and said why should she have to pay us $when we didn’t fix her transmission Chris explained that was for the labor of removing and reinstalling the transmission Ms [redacted] demanded the phone number to the corporate office and Chris explained that it was an independently owed franchise Ms [redacted] asked for the owner’s number and Chris explained that he was not allowed to give it out but that he would give me the message and that I would return her call I called Ms [redacted] and we spoke at length about the entire situation After going over her options and discussing used parts from salvage yards, warranties, and mileage guarantees, Ms [redacted] decided to go with the $quote which entailed us getting a used unit, resealing it, and installing it in her vehicle She also told me that she planned to dispute the charges later I told Ms [redacted] that in light of that statement and the possible confusion with all the different quotes that I would need her to come up to the shop and sign off on the repair before we would continue She said no problem and came by later that afternoon and signed the work authorization box on the repair order It was after 5pm at this point and I told Ms [redacted] that it would be the next morning before we could order the unit from the salvage yard I also told her that even though her experience with my shop hadn’t gone as well as either of us had hoped, I wanted her to be happy and if she changed her mind and wanted to take a different option that she could do so as long as she called before the unit was delivered because there are no refunds for parts purchased from junk yards She left with a copy of the repair order she had signed Ms [redacted] called first thing the next morning to tell us she had changed her mind and now wanted to purchase a used transmission herself and have us install it Chris told her no problem and that we would call her when the repair was completed The transmission was delivered at 2:20pm that same day We had the unit resealed and the installation completed before lunch time the following day I do not feel that this is a valid complaint and ask that the Revdex.com remove it from their website in its entirety Ms [redacted] had every single step of the process explained to her in great detail No repairs were started without her expressed verbal and written consent Ms [redacted] was afforded every single option known to us for completing the repair of her vehicle She was charged the exact amount of the quote she received from us for the repair Any delays that occurred were a result of the customer changing her mind and not the fault of the repair facility And as a customer service, we replaced the rear main seal at no charge to Ms [redacted]

On 29 Aug 2015,
Ms. [redacted] brought her 2000 Ford Expedition to my shop for our fluid and
filter change service.  With every fluid
and filter service we complete a free 22 point inspection of the vehicle to
determine if there are any issues with the vehicle’s...

engine, transmission, and
drivetrain.  When we removed the
transmission pan we found excessive amounts of friction material and metal
particles in the pan and stuck to the magnet.
The manager called Ms. [redacted] to discuss this with her and that’s when
she told him that the vehicle had been jerking sometimes and that she had some
engine work done but it was still jerking.
Chris informed Ms. [redacted] that due to the high mileage (197K), the
excessive amount of material in the pan, and the drivability issue that we
could not change the fluid and filter in her transmission. Ms. [redacted] was told
that she had an internal problem with her transmission and the next step would
be to complete an Inspection Service.
Chris explained that an inspection service consisted of us removing,
dismantling, and inspecting (RDI) the transmission which would enable us to accurately
make a list of parts needed to repair her transmission and provide her with a
detailed quote for the repair.   Ms.
[redacted] asked how much that would cost and Chris told her $485. Chris further explained
to Ms. [redacted] that this was the labor for removing and reinstalling the
transmission and that if she decided to approve the repair that the $485 would
be credited towards the repair.  Chris
also explained that if she decided not to repair the transmission that we would
put her transmission back together with its original parts and reinstall it in
her vehicle and all she would owe is the $485. Ms. [redacted] gave her approval for us to
complete the inspection service and as is always done with telephonic
approvals, Chris asked for identifying information from Ms. [redacted] as proof of
the conversation which he wrote down on her paperwork.
     After the
inspection service was completed Chris called Ms. [redacted] with an initial quote
of $2305.82 for a reconditioned transmission service with a rebuilt exchanged
torque converter.  This was to rebuild
her transmission with our standard warranty.
Ms. [redacted] was never told that she needed “another” transmission.  We can always repair a transmission for less
then what it would cost to get one from a dealership or aftermarket
source.  Ms. [redacted] rejected our quote
saying she didn’t have the money for that so Chris started working to find
possible options to help Ms. [redacted].
After researching the cost of purchasing used transmissions from a
couple of different salvage yards with varying mileage, Chris called Ms.
[redacted] with quotes for installing them.
Ms. [redacted] told Chris those were outside her budget as well and that
she’d call back later to let us know what she had decided to do.  The next day Ms. [redacted] called back
demanding to know which salvage yards he had spoken with because she had called
around and had gotten a different price then the one we had quoted her.  Chris explained that the quotes were based
off of the prices we were given.  Ms.
[redacted] said she still couldn’t pay that much and Chis told her that we don’t
usually allow customers to bring in their own parts but if she wanted to
purchase a used transmission from somewhere and bring it to us we would install
it.  Chis also explained that at a
minimum the used transmission would need to be resealed and receive new fluid
and a filter.  Ms. [redacted] said she would
think about it and let us know.  The next
morning Ms. [redacted] called and said she had decided to have us put her original
transmission back in her vehicle so she could take it somewhere else.  Chris told her that was no problem and we
would be happy to do that but that she would still be responsible for the $485.  Ms. [redacted] got angry and said why should she
have to pay us $485 when we didn’t fix her transmission.  Chris explained that was for the labor of
removing and reinstalling the transmission.
Ms. [redacted] demanded the phone number to the corporate office and Chris
explained that it was an independently owed franchise.  Ms. [redacted] asked for the owner’s number and
Chris explained that he was not allowed to give it out but that he would give
me the message and that I would return her call.  I called Ms. [redacted] and we spoke at length
about the entire situation.   After going
over her options and discussing used parts from salvage yards, warranties, and
mileage guarantees, Ms. [redacted] decided to go with the $1500 quote which
entailed us getting a used unit, resealing it, and installing it in her
vehicle.  She also told me that she
planned to dispute the charges later.   I
told Ms. [redacted] that in light of that statement and the possible confusion
with all the different quotes that I would need her to come up to the shop and
sign off on the repair before we would continue.  She said no problem and came by later that
afternoon and signed the work authorization box on the repair order.  It was after 5pm at this point and I told Ms.
[redacted] that it would be the next morning before we could order the unit from
the salvage yard.  I also told her that
even though her experience with my shop hadn’t gone as well as either of us had
hoped, I wanted her to be happy and if she changed her mind and wanted to take
a different option that she could do so as long as she called before the unit
was delivered because there are no refunds for parts purchased from junk
yards.  She left with a copy of the
repair order she had signed.  Ms. [redacted]
called first thing the next morning to tell us she had changed her mind and now
wanted to purchase a used transmission herself and have us install it.  Chris told her no problem and that we would
call her when the repair was completed.
The transmission was delivered at 2:20pm that same day.  We had the unit resealed and the installation
completed before lunch time the following day.
     I do not feel
that this is a valid complaint and ask that the Revdex.com remove it from their
website in its entirety.   Ms. [redacted]
had every single step of the process explained to her in great detail.  No repairs were started without her expressed
verbal and written consent.  Ms. [redacted]
was afforded every single option known to us for completing the repair of her
vehicle.  She was charged the exact
amount of the quote she received from us for the repair.  Any delays that occurred were a result of the
customer changing her mind and not the fault of the repair facility.  And as a customer service, we replaced the
rear main seal at no charge to Ms. [redacted].
