Review: Hello: I hope I give the correct information needed to file this claim. Here are the details. A few months ago, I saw an advertisement in our local newspaper ([redacted]), here in [redacted]. The ad was where a man was wanting to do repairs to homes. I called the telephone number, and talked with John David Hodges. I asked if he did mobile home repairs. He assured me he did. We set up a time for him to come look at what I needed done. The day he arrived, he told me some about his life and we talked about the BIBLE, and how our lives had been changed by GOD. After talking about 30 minutes, he looked at my Bathroom that I was needing repaired. He assured me that he could fix it, that it would take him 24 hours and he charged $20.00 an hour. He said he was giving me a Elderly discount, because of my age (62 at the time)and since I am Disabled he knew I was on a fixed income. He did start the work, but he never finished it. One day I made the mistake of giving him money for the supplies I owed for, plus some of his money. I have not seen him since. I called him and left messages, about how the window was leaking and asking when he was returning. He has never called back. And he still has not after these months. Before he did this to me, I had gave a reference to another person about him. He did the same to him, but for more money. Also before he did this, I got a friend of mine to help him work at the person's house, I had given the reference to. Now I feel horrible for referring him, and getting my friend to work for him. I have found out that John David Hodges, has scammed people since 1990, by using different names for businesses. As of right now he is supposed to be tried in Mocksville in October. I know there are others in Wilkes that he has scammed. It did not cost me as much as some others paid, but I had to borrow the money-now I am paying the money back with interest-and still have an unfinished bathroom.Thank you, [redacted]Desired Settlement: I know I will probably never get my money back, but I would like to. Since other people have lost thousands of dollars of money to this man. I had to borrow the money to pay him and buy some of the materials. I am on Disability, have many medical problems and I am in Stage 4 of Kidney Failure. I would like the money back, so I can pay someone else to make my Bathroom useable, so I can get my wheelchair and other equipment into the Bathroom. And not have to look at my ugly Bathroom he left.
