I made a huge mistake by purchasing a cottage at Campers Haven Carefree Resorts promised they were committed to the site and would make improvements WRONG! They bailed out of their $BILLION debt and sold the company to Sun CommunitiesFrom what I have read they are no betterThe lease increases each year and the length of the lease is only yearThat means no security and no ability to get a mortgage to buy a cottage I have been trying to sell my place for years It's a terrible place to own!!!

By far the most horrible place I have ever resided. The staff is rude, bothersome, pathetic, and always in someone else's personal affairs. Calling the staff of this company [redacted] would be an insult to [redacted] all over the world. The people at the front desk are useless-you may as well talk to the trees outside. The maintenance people are not qualified to do anything even remotely related to maintenance, and yet they are still employed here. There is a "security guard" who isn't security, he doesn't prevent any theft at all, he sells drugs to people in the park, the vice president of the facility pretends he doesn't see or know but he does, people have photographic and video evidence of this sg selling drugs to people and no one does a god damn thing about it. Photographic evidence was submitted to the vice president, nothing was done, and this sketchy, creepy, DRUG DEALING [redacted] still drives around this property every single night not doing anything at all but putting money in his own pocket and presumably putting money in the pockets of the people in charge at the park, otherwise how and why would he be permitted to keep coming back here every single night? I'm sure its hard to believe, but this VOLUNTEER NEIGHBORHOOD WATCH [redacted], because that's exactly what this guy is, doesn't drive over here out of the kindness of his heart. He is making money ILLEGALLY. Everyone knows about it.
There are people who sell and deal with heroine, right in here in the park. No one does a [redacted] thing about it. Some kids found a heroine syringe in the river. Again. Nothing done. No cops called. Everyone just went about their day. What the [redacted] is wrong with these people? Why the hell, and how the hell does this facility still exist??? You can't tell any of the staff, you can't communicate with the VICE PRESIDENT of the company, you can't tell anyone affiliated with "Carefree" any issues at all because of the complete and total apathy, so who exactly do you speak with? As a paying customer, as a customer who expects (I know this is crazy) a clean facility, that functions(whoa)... a residence that maybe doesn't have thieves and drug dealers driving around at night posing as neighborhood watch, heroine needles in the river...? Where is the line? Where is the point that something changes? Why is no one doing one single thing to improve this place?
They build bridges that don't function, (it floods and serves no purpose, plus it was constructed by illegitimate construction workers; no engineers were present at all), but they can't fix a tenants shower or bathroom. My neighbors bicycles were stolen multiple times(most likely by TJ the neighborhood watch guy so that he could [redacted] them and make money) and somehow no one saw or heard or anything. Multiple times. I don't believe in coincidance, so where are the answers? Where are there the explanations? Where is the accountability? No one is liable for anything, ever, so at what point in time, is there anything "Carefree" at all taking place?
They have increased the rent every single year since they purchase this trailer park in 2007 of $15 per month to get the government increase on social security check of the 55 and up seniors citizens while the county increase is only $1.10 or less a year. They went from $308 in 2006 to $440 in 2015 going up to $457 for 2016.
Of course no additional amenities had been added to the park (we only have a pool table) other than 3 workout gym machine and a small asphalt parking for visitors to comply with the law and sealing the streets of half of the park without fixing the pot holes or leveling streets to prevent flooding during and after rain.
Carefree Management want's money only and resident are moving out this park !
