Review: Prior to services rendered by Dr. Bacon, I was clear that I wanted my work to be preauthorized by my insurance company (which I was promised by Dr. Bacon and his front desk staff it was).I spoke with my insurance and no preauthorized check from Dr. Bacons office was made or they'd have known my insurances wasn't going to cover the work Dr. Bacon insisted I needed (full mouth Xray's) after the work he directed me to another business I didn't trust nor sign up for completing my work. I had to drive down to [redacted] to complete my work with a trusted dentist and the Xrays preformed by Dr. Bacon weren't what I needed for looking at the single tooth I needed work on, my trusted dentist agreed that it seems he just wanted an easy payoff from my insurance because, xrays of my complete mouth for one tooth was ridiculous. Now because of Dr. Bacon and his front desk staff, and their lies to me... I am being billed the full price of work I didn't need nor wanted if my insurances wasn't helping pay for it... if they had done the work that was truly needed for my one tooth my insurance would have covered it like my dentist in [redacted] did...I spoke with Dr. Bacons office today, and a girl with a bad attitude, tells me they couldn't preauthorize Xrays which according to my insurance was not true if they had at least called they'd known this for themselves(which my insurance informed me they had never called about this xray) making everything I spoke to this company about from start to finish a complete lie.If it isn't already, this is a prime example of unlawful dentistry practice and the manipulation to scam myself and my insurance (no claims were put on my insurance but wasn't that Dr. Bacon's goal? to charge my insurance on a more expensive xray that wasn't really needed?Desired Settlement: 1) For the remaining bill of $155.44 to be dissolved.2) And for their harassing phone calls to stop (they never fail to call and give my number out to a 3rd party with all my personal information - I don't believe I gave you permission to share).

Review: A quote, not an estimate, reiterated to me a number of times for a tooth crown turned out to be, via an unexplained invoice, over $100 more than what I was assured it would be. My clarification inquiries were met with denial of the repeated cost assurances and I was eventually simply threatened to either pay up or my invoice would be relegated to collections. Bait and switch?Desired Settlement: The refund of all payments over $600 (my quoted price) that I have paid to date on this tooth crown.

Dear Consumer,

We have received notice from the Revdex.com of your complaint. We understand why you would be upset about the bill. As you know, you changed employers and insurance companies within the course of your treatment in our office. We do our best to give accurate estimates to patients for treatment. With your previous employer and insurance company, we were able to give a very good estimate as to what we expected them to pay. When your employer and insurance policy changed, my office called the new insurance company to figure out what your benefits were. They stated there was 50% coverage of major work, and this is all of the information my staff was able to receive. Based on this information, we estimated your out-of-pocket portion. Your new insurance policy did not pay as we had expected. This was the reason for the bill. At the time that you came in with the new insurance policy, we should have clarified that we did not fully know the scope of your benefits. This is the reason we have sent you a refund check. This is for the payment over the original quoted amount ($601.00). We have subsequently cleared the collection agency of your case.

Please understand that within our financial policy, it states “regarding your insurance benefits, that is between you, your employer and your insurance company. As a courtesy we will bill the company for you. An estimate is given with the information you & your insurance company provide to us.”

There was no “bait & switch”. We are an honest office and do our best to figure out the very complicated insurance industry. Thank you for your understanding in the matter. Please contact my office if you have any other questions.

Sincerely,

John L. Bacon D.D.S.
