Review: I signed a contract with John Paul Builders on 1/20/15 I gave him a check in the amount of $45,250.00 on that date also. This money is the governments RREM grant I recd to rebuild and lift my home from Sandy. He told me at the time that he would start working on my permits from my town. Throughout the months following, I had my engineer and architect draw up all the plans which were given to John Paul Builders. He told me each and every time I gave him a report, that he would bring it to the Building Dept in Brick to put in with my permit package. My move out date was 9/9/2015 which they were aware of but I was told by them that my permits were ready and the only thing needed to pick up the permits was the shut off notices from my utilities. On 9/2/15 I called the town hall and found out that no permits were ever filed for me by them. Paul R. and John B. the owners told me that they did file them and that Brick lost everything. Brick Building Dept states that's a lie. I had to move out of my home as scheduled and they promised they would do the permits again on 9/3/15, which they never did. I kept calling Brick and finally went there and found out that the package was never brought in till 9/16/15 and there were many mistakes and errors on them. The town called them numerous times and finally on 10/8/15 they fixed them. I have been told nothing but lies, lies, lies by them and have requested my money back numerous times and they keep refusing me a refund. They now claim that I am the General Contractor because I hired my own Architect, Engineer and Lifting Company, which is a lie!!! My daughter and I went to a meeting with Paul on 10/28/15 where he was supposed to fix my contract because his contract does not match anything on the architects plans. I never received a new contact, I have asked them for a copy of their insurance many times and never received that either. I have been out of my home 3 months, he has had my money almost 1 year. I want my money bacDesired Settlement: I want a compete refund of my money. He has many Consumer Fraud Violations on the contract he gave me. They have done nothing for me and my home. I am already on an extension and I have to be out of my winter rental in March, he has taken all of my RREM money and I can't even hire another contractor until I get a refund. Nowhere on my contract does it state that I can't get my refund back. I have reported him to the Division of Consumer Affairs also. All I want is my entire refund so I can start my home. He has taken the government money and this is terrible. I want the money back please ASAP
