My car was taken to [redacted] several months ago as I broke down, it was later discovered it was a Water pump and thermostat that went out, [redacted] being a qualified auto mechanic for decades was the mechanic I have been using for several years, I thought I could trust [redacted] to repair my water pump and thermostat issue, several days later my car went back for tune up, which he did, at that point my car has never ran ever since, I told [redacted] the issues, he said bring it back as I had a engine check light came on, so [redacted] told me to leave the car and he'd take a look at it, came back few hours later he told me all was good, I asked him a few times repeatedly what was the cause for the engine check light to come on... he just said "ok everything ok" he is German I think and he has an accent, and he is hard to understand at times. A week after this issue, my car started to shudder and not run right, ever since [redacted] worked on it, so I had a 2nd opinion look at the car, to find that the balancer belt that runs with the timing belt had snapped. I had no idea, The 2nd opinion mechanic said that any timing belt driven part you MUST replace timing belt and balancer belt also, well I later asked [redacted] he said he never did as was ok, [redacted] said to bring the car back I refused to because of his negligence, [redacted] being a qualified mechanic for over 10 years he should of known any timing belt/balancer belt driven parts needed replaced the timing belt and balancer belt MUST be replaced also. I took my car to another mechanic who said because the belts were not changed when water pump was replaced and they were old and worn, caused the cylinders are warped and now I need a new engine and cost of this total is $3,640. This is money cannot afford on top of paying [redacted] $1,800 for work he negligence (performed poorly) on my car.
