Dear [redacted], I am writing to you once again and for the last time in regards to this complaint. At least 90% of his response is lies. I am done with this issue. He needs to realize that his carelessness in maintaining his vehicle lead to the CORRODED part and that is why it broke. It was not removed from the vehicle when [redacted] got there. In fact he had to help get it off the battery. [redacted] needs to realize he should not cheat the company. Seeing as he is so desperate for the $15-00 we will be sending him the money but it won't be on his credit card. He will just have to live with his conscience and a check.  Also if you post this issue, you hopefully post the responses.  Regards, [redacted]'s Towing

Attn: [redacted]. This letter is in regards to the complaint you received from [redacted]. The technician who first went out to assist with this battery call found that the clamp that attaches to the battery terminal was very corroded by battery...

acid. He pointed this out to the member. When it was loosened to remove it so the battery could be changed it broke because of the acid erosion, not because [redacted] broke it. The member was quite rude about it saying that [redacted] would have to replace it at no cost. [redacted] called in to the shop and talked to [redacted] who went and bought the clamp and took it to the location of the car. The member again said to [redacted] that the tech broke it . This is impossible if the part was in good condition. [redacted] told him the new part cost $15-00 [our cost] and that was all that he would be charged. No labor. The man left the scene .[redacted] installed the new clamp and new battery, collected credit card payment from the wife for the new battery and clamp and went back to work. A while later [redacted] is calling the tow yard and complaining about the  $15-00 charge and demanding his money be put back on his card.  After much whining, [redacted] finally told him to come to the yard and he would give him the $15-00 cash. He refused and wanted it on his credit card. Without the card we cannot refund. This offer does not apply anymore. He has complained so much about something that was not our fault. The clamp was corroded and eaten away with battery acid. If he had taken better care of his car the clamp would not have broken. We are done with this matter and do not want to hear any more about it. If we were responsible it would not be an issue. All [redacted] wants is to pass the blame and get something for nothing. He should have been charged for labor also, but was not.     Sincerely, [redacted]'s Towing.

Review: Had a battery replaced with AAA through [redacted]s towing. The tech busted the battery clamp during the install, I then stated he needed to replace the clamp at no charge to me,the tech then called out a suprivisor, which turned out to be the owner. When the owner arrived I let him take a look at the problem and then asked if all was well. He stated he would fix the problem and I told him to have my wife pay for the battery and I left. When my wife got home we had been charged an additional $15 for the clamp the tech busted.Desired Settlement: I want the $15 to be credited back to the credit card.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID [redacted] and have determined that this proposed action would not resolve my complaint. For your reference, details of the offer I reviewed appear below.

I would like to start this review by saying I not only consent to have this posted, but have hopes that it will for other patrons [redacted]'s towing. I will respond out of principal and hopes that this gives [redacted] a realization that the consumer should not be cheated.

After the initial call for my wife's car to have a new battery installed, it took me about 10 minutes to get to her work. Once I arrived the tech had already taken out the old battery and had the new one in place. I inquired of the status and the tech said he busted the battery clamp and it would need to be replaced for $20.He also stated it was corroded and that was the reason for the damage. I looked at the clamp and I did not see corrosion ( it had been cleaned however) nor was any evidence the metal was pitted or worn. What I did see was the end of the clamp had been busted from what I consider over torqueing the clamp with the 1/2 drive ratchet and impact socket he had in his hand. It was then that I stated that if it was corroded he should have waited for waited for me to arrive or show my wife the corrosion/damage. Since he had not done either and with the lack of visible corrosion, I did state it needed to be repaired/replaced at no charge to me. The tech called out a supervisor, which I later found out was the owner. The only communication I had with the owner was the initial greeting and after he looked at the battery he stated he didn't believe it was the techs fault, but would take care of it. At that point I said thanks and told them to have my wife sign the bill. At no point did [redacted] state there would be a $15 charge, let alone how gracious he was by not charging me labor. Hindsight I should have clarified my position of not paying for the new clamp and also should have informed my wife that there would be no additional charges. At the moment everything seemed normal and that he was going to fix the tech error.

Once my wife and I both got home I noticed the charge for the clamp and of course was not pleased. I asked my wife if they had contacted her and asked for authorization for the repair and she stated that she had not. I then called AAA and let them know about the issue and then called the shop. It was then that I found out that the supervisor that had been called out was the owner [redacted]. I then asked [redacted] for a refund of the $15 dollars to be refunded to our card, with all of the above examples as my reason. I also have to state that I was not pleased of the charge, but by no means was I angry, yelling or whining during any part of this conversation. At that point [redacted] said I was cheating him and he would not refund my money. I responded that by no means was I cheating him and had been upfront of my wishes from the beginning and he should have told me about the additional funds while I was on site. I also stated he knew of my wishes, since that was the reason he had been called out to the site. Eventually he stated he would refund my $15, but I would have to drive to his shop for the refund. I stated that is a 40min round trip drive and that I again needed to be refunded to my card. He then said I should complain to AAA and hung up the phone.
