JOHNSON CHIMNEY SERVICE RESPONSE
On  November 3rd 2014, Travers called Johnson Chimney Service to provide a inspection/cleaning of their chimney.Johnson Chimney Service stated the Cleaning/Inspection Fee would cost $185.00 and if the chimney...

did not need to be cleaned the charge of an inspection was $175.00, reduced to $150.00 per group rate. When booking the appointment the customer was fully aware that there would be a charge. As promised Johnson Chimney Service arrived to perform a cleaning of the chimney. When our technician arrived it was revealed that the chimney did not need to be cleaned. As an honest company built (in over 50 years) on integrity, Johnson Chimney Service is not in the business of cleaning chimneys that are not in need of a cleaning. As a result, per the customer's request, Johnson Chimney Service performed a safety inspection of the chimney and reduced the cleaning fee of $185 to an inspection fee of $150.00.This customer refuses to pay the  (already discounted) Fee of $150.00.Johnson Chimney Service intends to pursue matters in order to get the below invoice paid.Kind Regards,Joni F[redacted]Operations ManagerDirect Line - ###-###-####

 Complaint: [redacted]
I am rejecting this response because:what the business says isn't true.  This is not about a chimney cleaning. They are trying to charge me for an inspection they did not do. According to NFPA 211 standards, for example (which they use in their invoice), the inspector is to inspect all the easily accessible areas of the chimney inside and outside. He did not even move the andirons and wood in the fireplace! He did not do an inspection, and I shouldn't have to pay for one. I am willing to pay $25 to settle. The business says their goal is customer satisfaction, but they have not responded at all to the facts of what happened. Instead, the threaten to sue me.  I have attached a picture of the wood in the fireplace, which is just as it was when the business employee came by. Please ask them to explain how they can say the did an inspection of the fireplace that meets the NFPA standards they refer to. They did not look beside or underneath the wood. He did not look at the outside of our chimney. He was three hours late for the appointment, shined his iPhone up our flue for a few seconds and was on his way. Also, it's important to remember they did several houses on our street by arrangement by our neighbor (not me, as she states in her response). So, it's not like they came out here just for me. He moved on to the next job on the street.
I have to say, I have never encountered a reputable business that treats dissatisfied customers this way. Please ask the business to tell you what's involved with a NFPA 211 level 1 inspection, and you'll see that they did not do that. So, I should not have to pay for something they did no do. I am willing to compromise, as I have said from day one.
