Review: On the 12th of February I contacted Johnston Computer and Repairs about putting a program on a tablet. I went in and discussed the matter and [redacted] the owner, he said yes he could put the program on a tablet. He said if I left him $50 he would find me a used tablet. He stated being in computer repairs he would be able to find a tablet for a reasonable price easier than I would. He told me it would take one to two weeks. I left Mr. [redacted] a check and I have a receipt. On the second of March, I contacted Mr. [redacted] via facebook message. He said he had been sick and the tablet would be in on Tuesday. Then it was going to be delayed a few more day. On the 20th of March he was supposed to have it any day now. After that he has stopped answering my messages. I have repeatedly asked for a refund. I called his business number a few times and left messages. I left him an address that he could mail a refund check to. He has had his shopped closed for repairs. I have tried to go into his shop during business hours but he has always been closed when I went buy (I don't live in town where the shop is). He took my money, failed to deliver the product, and now refuses to refund my money.

Business' Initial Response

Customer asked for Johnston Computers & Repair J.C.R. to convert a Movie-type program to work on a Android type platform for a fee and to look for a "Used" cheap tablet, which did take longer then usual to get to the shop, arriving on March 22nd. Just a few days after our last communication. Customer was called multiple times over the following weeks, and three voice mails were left, attempting to inform that her product had arrived. With No Response. JCR has a policy that after 30 days with no contact, items / deposits are considered abandoned. Items or funds abandoned are at the sole discretion of JCR. What has been implemented if a customer returns after the 30 days, is a store credit. (we have some customers items still here that back date from November of 2012, with no contact or intent to pay / pickup) this is nothing personal and we value your business, and regret to inform you that at this point a "monetary" refund will not be issued.

I left messages via facebook and phone after he says the product arrived. I never received any message from him via phone, cell phone, or facebook. Facebook shows that he saw my message after the date he claims the product arrived. There was no response. Also since my last message I went by his store 4 times and had another friend go by. His store was always closed. I went by at different times and on different days all during business hours. I had someone with my on 2 of the occasions. So three people can verify that I went by or had a friend go by and he was closed during his "normal" hours. If he made any effort at all to contact me it was very minimal. I would have been happy to have the tablet and paid him to add the program. The program in question is a set of exercise for the brain. Our windows 8 will not download it onto our laptop. I was looking for an easy portable way for my son to have his exercise for when we travel.

Customer References "Facebook" messages back and forth, this was and is a line of contact with JCR, however after around the 20th these communications ceased. I do not recall seeing any messages in our "Comments" box or on the door at any time when we may have been out on calls.

Review: On 5/14/2013 I dropped off an Ipad for service, was told it would take 3 days for repair. It has been over a month now, unable to contact him.

On 5/14/2013 I dropped off an Ipad 2 for repair of a cracked screen, I have already paid in full, $125, I was told it would take 3 days for the part to be delivered and it would be installed on the same day the part was received. On 5/19/2013 I called and left a message during business hours, I have not heard from him since. I have called and stopped by his store everyday since, the drop off to no avail, I've left 5 messages on his shop door asking him to contact me with status of my ipad and still have had no contact in the last month. I've left over 20 messages on his answering machine until it is now full and I'm unable to leave anymore messages. Desired Settlement: I just want my money back and my Ipad fixed or not.

Review: On March 4th 2013 I dropped my laptop off at Johnston Computers. He has not repaired the laptop will not return it or the money paid.

Dropped off an aspire XXXX-XXXX model # [redacted] accer laptop on march 4 2013 I have a reciept stating this from johnston computets on 516 walnut st. Red bluff. [redacted] stated the motherboard needed replaced I paid $104.82 and 55 when I pick up finished product in 7-10 buisness days we waited 12 buisness days and called to see if it was ready for pick up he did not reply right away and when he did he said it was not finished this went on for a month when on 4-22-2013 he said it was done I could pick up I went in and he states there's another problem now I pay split cost with him because of all the trouble $70 to have screen replacement I got another reciept and a day to pick up for sure on 4-26-13 he will call He did not ccan't get ahold of him than a week latet he says he will return computer to us my husband says he wsnts a refund of money wr paid because laptop was never fixed he said give him two weeks he has no money to pay us at the moment or we can let him try one more time ok we say and he says one week no call no answer can't get ahold of him wr stop by the buisnesd and the door is always locked he will not answer it had noe been 3 months and we can't get ahold of the gut any more Desired Settlement: Refund and the laptop with all of its parts
