Johnstown Excavating

Review: We contracted Johnstown Excavating to complete mandatory sewage line pressure testing and replacement. We signed a contract with him in late 2014 and the project was to be completed by 1/15/15. However, due to his schedule we contacted Highland Sewer & Water and requested (and were granted) an extension. This project was then initiated in April 2015 over the course of two days. To date (October 22, 2015) the entire project has not been completed and the owner is no longer returning our phone calls. All money was paid (cash) with the exception of $200, which we were told to hold until the project was fully completed. Replacing/testing the sewage lines required the crew to dig up shrubbery in front of the house, as well as tear up a large portion of our paved driveway. We were told (and have this in writing) that when the project was done, our property would be left in the same condition that it was found in. The day the sewage lines were replaced, an employee explained that they were about 4 weeks behind in paving, but assured us that someone would return to pave the driveway and replace the shrub (I had asked why he didn't just replant the one that was pulled out of the ground, his response was that the ground needed to set). By late June we hadn't heard from them, so we contacted them and was told it was too rainy of a summer to pave. In either late August or early September we were told they subcontract their paving to another local company ([redacted]) who was behind on their work. Attempts to contact Jimmy R[redacted]/Johnstown Excavating throughout the month of October have been unsuccessful. Multiple voicemails have been left, but our calls are not returned. **I do not have the exact dates, amount of monies paid and copies of contracts on my person at this time as this information is kept in a safe at home, however I would be happy to provide copies of this documentation via email.Desired Settlement: We are requesting that our driveway be repaved in the near future (the arrival of winter weather will cause another barrier to completion). A "cold patch" over the hole in not acceptable. In lieu of Johnstown Excavating being able to complete this project, we would accept a refund equal to the amount it would cost to have another company complete the job. This amount can/will be based on estimates we recieve and not an estimate provided by Johnstown Excavating.
