Jon Dooley Heating & Cooling Reviews (%countItem)

AC went out on July 28th, 2019. On Tuesday after review of the findings from the technician I noticed a line item that smoke alarms and carbon monoxide detectors would need to be brought up to code. I then contacted Jon Dooley Heating & Cooling to find out what the code was and how if affected me. They told me that new California law stated smoke alarms needed to be a sealed 10-year battery. The secretary sent me over the Health and Safety code for review. I reviewed said code and realized my smoke alarms are hard wired with a battery backup, so I knew they were up to code and beyond. I contacted my home warranty to agree to payment and begin with purchasing of parts. I called them around 1 pm on Wednesday. They informed me the parts had been ordered and contact with Jon Dooley Heating and Cooling for pick up and to schedule for repair. This is where it got interesting. I call Jon Dooley Heating & Cooling to check on the line item for the smoke detectors. I asked the receptionist since my smoke alarms are hard wired and did not need to be replaced did, they need to know that before or after coming out so they could amend the price. That is when she got irritated and told me "we have to follow the code, whatever the code states is what we will do" I told her I already know what the code is and the smoke alarms did not need to be replaced. She them said "I'll get Jon to talk to you". I can only assume it was Mr. Jon Dooley himself. Once he got on the phone, he was very aggravated, hostile, and argumentative. He would not let me speak or ask my question nor did he answer my question because he does not know the Health and Safety Code for smoke alarms. After several minutes of trying to discuss this he hung up on me. I called back only to find out they had cancelled the work through my home warranty company without any explanation. Some of the poorest customer service I have ever experienced.

Jon Dooley Heating & Cooling Response • Aug 03, 2019

Jon Dooley Heating and Cooling received a work order from *** W.'s home warranty stating his Air Conditioning system was not turning on. JDHC techs discovered the system was leaking refrigeration from two locations (valve and condensing coil). Due to the overall poor condition, age and refrigerant type of the system, JDHC recommended to replace the system. *** W. was displeased with the non-covered cost provided by his home warranty to replace the system. *** W. wanted information on code required smoke alarms. JDHC representatives explained the required local code and provided *** W. with source material of the code requirement. The following day *** W. contacted JDHC and still was not satisfied by the source material, so Jon the owner of JDHC provided the contact information of the local building inspectors offices. *** W. was still not satisfied and proceeded by hang up on the Jon. Because, *** W. was disrespectful to Jon and was becoming increasingly difficult to work with, JDHC contacted *** W.'s home warranty and notified them of the situation and the call was transferred.

He cut my ducking to a.c. on video what a *** wanted 1200 then stoped to 700 prior to second opinion to bad he was caught on video

On June 15 2018 Jon Dooley Heating & Air Cooling, Inc was called out to Ms. house. The inner barrier of duct was collapsed. Jon did removed the return air duct to prevent more insulation penetrating the indoor coil. The plan was Ms. was not going to use her air conditioner until it was repaired on Saturday June 16 2018. The original cost was $1,200.00 but was reduced to $725 since Jon could just replace approximately 10 feet of duct instead of 35 feet. Jon agreed to take payments to help Ms... She has threatened us with law suits, video tapes, phone recordings, friends helping her post negative reviews even though we have not serviced her friends. I tried to resolve this issue by advising her if she shows me the video of Jon taking advantage of her "because she is a single mom" we would come out and take care of it for free. She has had previous problems with her air conditioning and other contractors have come out and the problems were not resolved. We offered to come out on a Saturday and resolve her problem of a collapsed return air duct perform a complete standard maintenance with an indoor coil cleaning due to the system not being maintained by the homeowner. Because of her unprofessional conduct this information will be sent to her place of employment.

We purchased a brand new heating and air conditioner and John Dooley installed it. Over the next four weeks they had to come back four times to repair issues from the instillation. We had leaking condensation and it shut our unit off in the middle of summer in 110 degree weather. It took them days to fix it each time. They were rude and mean about repairing it and did a horrible job. However eventually it worked and was fine. But now 9 months later it is leaking oil and they refuse to do business with us. It has a year warranty but they refuse to come out. They have the worst customer service ever.

Jon Dooley Heating & Cooling Response • Jun 06, 2018

This is the first complaint we received. Mr & Mrs *** has complained about their system from day one. Anytime they had a problem we responded within 24 hours. Mr *** even thought he had the right to come to our residence on fathers day of 2017 and yell at our daughter. When we got home Jon call Mr *** and went out to look at the problem. Every time we responded we found nothing wrong. He complained to the manufacture about the equipment and installation they found nothing wrong. The City Of Bakersfield passed the installation and closed the permit. The California required testing of the refrigerant, airflow and duct leakage test passed. The system at the time of installation and third party testing held pressure which means there was no leaks at that time. Between the installation and now the system lost refrigerant. Because of the problems with Mr *** we did not come out to his house.(Under federal anti-discrimination laws, businesses can refuse service to any person for any reason) He called out a second party and they found a pin hole leak at one of the welds. Mr *** did not provide receipts or a report from the second party. We called the second party and obtained the receipts and the report. We paid the second party's charges amount of $672.18. The second party will refund Mr ***'s cost. Mr. has a manufacture warranty for parts and a 2 year labor warranty for any defects to the equipment but not installation. The standard warranty for installation problems is 30 days. Mr *** is aware of this fact because he signed the receipt when the job was completed. Mr *** will never be happy I believe it is called buyers remorse. He purchase something he hopes to get a full refund even if he has to drag our company name in the dirt (FACEBOOK). Under federal anti-discrimination laws, businesses can refuse service to any person for any reason. We will no longer answer Mr & Mrs *** so all communications can be handled under the Revdex.com.

Customer Response • Jun 07, 2018

Revdex.com:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID 12877749, and find that this resolution is satisfactory to me.However I do want to add that our air conditioner was shutting off from condensation filling the overflow tank two days after the installation then 4 days after installation and 6 days after Jon Dooley came out instead of sending a worker and found the installation was not done right they never put insulation around unit so the unit was sweating and filling the overflow causing the shut off. So yes Mr *** was upset that after paying over 7000 dollars our unit was not installed correctly. Also Jon Dooley himself is very nice and when he came out was very nice and apologetic for their mistake it is His wife who is rude, and lacks customer service skills. I am just happy She decided to do the right thing. Revdex.com thank you for your help. Please go ahead and close our complaint.
