granddaughter who was caring for the dog while [redacted] was hospitalized. [redacted] presented a signed check from [redacted] as payment for services when she picked up the dog. Knowing [redacted] for many years at our clinic, we had no reason to be suspicious of the situation. Later we received a phone call from [redacted] that [redacted] is not a relative, had no permission to bring the dog to us and that we were obligated to locate the dog for her. [redacted] stated on the phone that she is [redacted]'s daughter and has power of attorney over [redacted]'s affairs. Again we had no documentation of power of attorney or that [redacted] is even [redacted]'s daughter. We made a good faith effort to provide quality veterinary care to Tripp. We released the animal to [redacted] as she brought the dog in as if she was the legitimate caretaker and a signed check from the owner seemed to confirm that. We are very much concerned for Tripp's welfare. We empathize with [redacted] if in fact her father's dog was stolen. We believe this is a matter for the Jordan Police Department. I have left voice messages on [redacted]'s voicemail but have received no response. Please let me know how I can personally help resolve this incident. Sincerely, Dan [redacted]
