often covered by insurance unless there is a medical Diagnosis involved, The insurance deemed this to be a routine exam and therefore did not cover it. This is beyond our control and we suggest the patient can file a complaint with the insurance company.To answer the patient’s complaint that we did not tell her that the insurance would not pay for her charges: We can only verify that a patient is still covered by that insurance and any co-pays due to the office. The Patient's responsibility is to be informed of their coverage...We do not decide what the insurance company covers and have no control on that matter. Since the patient requested an appointment we assume that patient requires an evaluation of their problem The evaluation performed by the Doctor is most routine and basic. The patient was educated on her diagnosis(considered routine) treatment options,eye prescriptions etc.and all questions were answered to her satisfaction. As to her complaint that we should have told her that she would be charged,it is an obvious expectation when you receive medical services. Our office submits medical insurances on behalf of patients as a service to them... We accept assignment with many insurance companies and deduct their non —allows from our patients’ bills...Unfortunately this patient’s exam was not covered by her insurance.We have no record of receiving this complaint from the patient.Sincerely,Silvia B.
