Complaint: [redacted] I am rejecting this response because: The Vice President of Sales with William Raveis contacted me regarding my complaint We discussed the issue at hand and she agreed with my reasoning to file a complaint Furthermore, she spoke with her salesman regarding the issue to rectify the problem I was told that I would get a followup phone call on Friday May 5th after we spoke and I was never called back This is not how you treat people and this is another example of poor customer service from this business Sincerely, Charles [redacted]

Initial Business Response /* (1000, 8, 2015/08/13) */
[redacted]response has been scanned in and converted to text below (original document is available using the online complaint system).
Joseph Catering catered an event for the complaintant on 6/5/15. Our company also did an event for the...

complainant's sister-in-law on 6/7/15. Per our sales manager the sister-in-laws were talking to each other prior to their events, about their events. Per our sales manager [redacted] had commented that she knew her sister-in-law could be difficult to deal with.
[redacted]'s event was held first on the 5th of June. It was a drop-off event. The food was delivered and the client ([redacted]) took possession and control of the food at the time of delivery. The food was prepared per [redacted]'s instructions. The Mashgiach tasted the menu items prior to the food being sealed in Joseph Caterings kitchen.
A Mashgiach is a rabbi who is hired by Joseph Catering to observe and supervise all the food preperation at Joseph Catering to assure the client that all rabbinical rules or laws are followed in preparing food such that the food is "Glatt Kosher". Note: all Glatt Kosher food is sealed by the Rabbi and is delivered with seal intact such that the client knows the food was not altered or touched. Per the Mashgiach the quality was fine. The client ate the food. If in fact the food was inedible, it's hard for us to imagine that [redacted] would not have called our sales manager to say something about it prior to our company preparing the food for her sister-in-laws event that Sunday. (As a side note, one of the items which was called inedible was a kosher deli tray. This tray was prepared for Joseph Catering by a kosher Deli in St. Louis Park). [redacted] took possession of the food. How it was cared for from then on Joseph Catering has no control over.
The sister-in-laws event on June 7th did not go well. There were food items that were missing and the event started late due to late arrival of the set up crew. The wrong designer dinnerware was used and one of the food displays was not attractive. The sister-in-law called our sales manager the next day. She was very upset. She stated specific problems with the food and the service as given above. The sister-in-law did also complement the food that was prepared even if it was not satisfactorily displayed. Due to the owner being out of town it took a while for our company to sort out the situation and settle on an amount of money to be returned to the sister-in-law. The company did compensate her for the mistakes the company made.
Because [redacted] had not complained after eating the food for her party and prior to the sister-in-laws event, and due to her not having any specific complaint other than the food was inedible (after it was prepared per her instructions and the Mashgiach had tasted it) Joseph Catering does not feel that she has a valid complaint. The food was prepared and eaten. There was no complaint until after the sister-in-laws event. There was no request for a refund until the 1st of July.
Therefore, as an example, Joseph Catering on occasion does make mistakes and we stand by our work. We do refund monies or perform another event free of charge when mistakes occur.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 10, 2015/08/14) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
Thank you for your help on this matter.
1. The reason there was no feedback until the Monday after my dinner on a Friday evening was because it was Shabbat.
I had my future in-laws staying with us and they are very orthodox. It would've been inappropriate for me to conduct any business during the Shabbat whlle they were staying with us.
I did contact Nat Joseph catering immediately on Monday morning. I continued to call email call again inquiring for response to the very inedible meal that was prepared. There Was no way I could know that the meal was poor quality because as they stated it was sealed by the Rabbi not to be opened until served. In fact I continued emailing calling contacting them for three weeks and a month after the event. I still have the string of emails with the dates on them.
It is true that my sister-in-law also had an event with Nat Joseph and that event also had its share of unfortunate problems. That being said, that is a separate issue and has nothing to do with my dinner on Friday night.
I am offended and take issue with the comment that I said anything negative regarding my sister-in-law who I love dearly. It is inappropriate. Not businesslike not professional.
My Sister-in-law also attended my dinner on Friday night and she was very nervous for her event on Sunday after she experienced the poor quality of the Friday night dinner.
In regards to the deli tray. It was put in the refrigerator immediately when it was delivered. The roast beef on the deli platter had gone bad by Sunday. It doesn't matter to me "The customer" who prepared the deli tray . Nat Joseph delivered it they were payed and Nat Joseph is responsible for the quality. The fact is the roast beef should have been good for more than two days.
In conclusion it's absurd to say that a refund is not appropriate. Nat Joseph feels my complaint first thing Monday that the product he delivered was inferior ...wasn't soon enough for him. That does not make the product less inferior.
I stand by my complaint and a refund is due.
Thank you [redacted]
