When purchasing a gift certificate online, the Joseph Decuis site automatically charges you for sales tax on top of the amount of your gift cardI just tried to buy a $certificate and the site added $in taxesThat means they're collecting sales tax twice on the same purchase - once from you and once from whoever uses the gift cardNeedless to say, this is wrong and it feels very dishonest
When purchasing a gift certificate online, the Joseph Decuis site automatically charges you for sales tax on top of the amount of your gift card. I just tried to buy a $50 certificate and the site added $2.83 in taxes. That means they're collecting sales tax twice on the same purchase - once from you and once from whoever uses the gift card. Needless to say, this is wrong and it feels very dishonest.
