Review: Purchased a pair of $125.00 plus 6.25 tax Professional Tooled Black Dansko clogs on 12/26/2014 from Josephs Shoes. The clerk ([redacted]?) told me to spray the shoes with non silicone spray which I went home and did as per her instructions. The spray ruined the finish on the shoes. I took them back to the store and left them for the owner to look at. Instead of offering me a new pair, he attempted to put black shoe polish on the shoes which covered the tooling (which is what I bought this particular shoe for in the first place) and the black came off on the hands when touched. I was not happy with this. I contacted Dansko myself and they told me that their tooled clogs are never to be sprayed and that the clerk should have never instructed this. They told me to go back to the store and ask for a new pair. They said that most stores are willing to help with problems. I went back again to Josephs and spoke to the owner explaining what I was instructed to do by Dansko. He refused to exchange or refund the shoes and said there was nothing he could do. He insisted that the spray that I used was defective. I called Dansko again and told them that the store would not help me so they said if I sent them the ruined shoes they would replace them for me no problem. This is how Josephs should have responded in the first place. I shipped the ruined shoes to Dansko and just received my replacement today as they have been on backorder. I waited until the matter was resolved with Dansko before placing my complaint with you regarding the poor customer service at Josephs. A high end shoe store such as this should know how to instruct customers on the care of their shoes sold.Desired Settlement: I wish for Joseph's Shoes to refund me the $18.48 that I had to spend to ship the damaged shoes to Dansko. Shipping the shoes is something that they should have done directly from their store in the first place.
Business
Response:
Business states consumer used her own spray on the shoes, that is what caused the damage. Regardless, when she brought the shoes into the store, the business repolished them to restore them to new condition. The consumer still was not satisfied, and Dansko replaced her shoes. There will be no refund of the shipping charges.
