I am rejecting this response because:
Because I have dial up internet connections I am in the library using their computer. I will try to respond on my computer on another date. However, I can advise you that there are errors in his response. One being that there is no written estimate from Josh Horn Home Improvements. His estimate was relayed via *** ***, employee of * * *, by telephone. I wrote down the figures on a piece of paper. I told * * * about my dissatisfaction with the workmanship. The fact that it was not flattering has to do with Josh Horn workmanship.I will respond to each of his comments from my computer later. ---- Forwarded message ----------From: Revdex.com of Metro Washington DCDate: Tue, Jun 14, at 2:PMSubject: Fwd: Revdex.com ID # *** *** *** - Josh Horn Home ImprovementsTo: ***@myRevdex.com.org---------- Forwarded message ----------From: *** Date: Tue, Jun 14, at 1:PMSubject: Revdex.com ID # *** *** *** - Josh Horn Home ImprovementsTo: *** *** ***:Because I contacted you this morning, I cannot have access to the complaint and have been advised to contact you with my response regarding the letter from Josh Horn, #***.* * * *** referred Josh Horn Home Improvement to me because I asked for their help. We had moved from Colorado, werebuilding a house and did not know anyone locally. Originally the contractor was going to install the cabinets. He was diagnosed with cancer and surgery was posted in January 2016.The cabinet installation was scheduled for January 2016. This major surgery was more important and I told him not to worry. To the best of my knowledge, he did not have "issues with Mrs" as reported to you by Josh Horn.Josh Horn came on Monday January 4, and helped * * * unloadthe boxes of cabinets. Unloading had nothing to do with me.He was brought to meet me, and wanted a deposit on the job. Hisfees, as given to me over the telephone by * * * were: $for kitchen, $for master bath, $for appliance installation and sink installation, $for counter installation ($total). There was no written proposal as reported by Josh HornI gave a deposit of $on Jan4, 2016.On January 8, I gave him a check for $2950. I did not payfor the counter top installation, $Total payment was $4650.00.My husband and myself evaluated the work completed thus far. There were major concerns in the kitchenOne was a peninsula that was not square with the wall - off 1/2" in the first 24". The result was that the hardwood flooring could not be installed squarely and that the peninsula turned in causing a gap between cabinets that you can see daylight thru! In addition, with the cabinets turned inward the 30" opening for the stove was narrowed so that it is difficult to pull out and impossible to level. The second major concern was that the kick plate did not sit on the floor leaving open space between 1/4" and 1/2". These two errors in workmanshipcould not be left for the punch list because the success of the final product depended on them.Originally I had told Josh Horn that I would call when the vanity and the kitchen counter arrived. We decided not to call him and notified * * *. We felt if these two mistakes were not done right the first time, then the installer was probably not capable of correcting them. The counter and the vanity were installed by the companies that made them. The plumber installed the kitchen sink and the vanity hardware. The contractor had recovered from surgery and offered to correct the pull-out shelves to the desired heights, level the drawers and doors, install the hardware, install the two cabinet master bathroom tower, and to remove the kick plate trim and put it correctly on the floor so there was no longer the 1/4" to 1/2" open gap between the floor and the cabinet bottomWe paid the contractor $for this workTo correct the crooked peninsula would be major! The counter would have to be removed, cabinets set square and a new counter ordered, made and installedThen the hardwood floor will certainly require re-cutting so that it fits under the cabinet kick plate and trim boardWe cannot afford that additional expense. As far as Josh Horn is concerned, he did not install the cabinet tower in the master bathroom and did not install the hardwareIn the kitchen, he did not do the punch list work because he was not called. He did not install the kitchen counter or kitchen sink because he was not called. He did install the kitchen appliances, but I had to pay the plumber because the propane gas line was incorrectly installed.I did ask him to adjust the height between pullout shelves when he was here. They were incorrectly installed. Josh Horn put them where he thought they should be. He did not consult with the homeowner. He did move one shelf and said he would do the rest when he returned to complete the jobWe said OKWe also asked himto look at a leaky toilet, he said sure, and fixed it.Regarding * * * *** reporting that I was bad mouthingJosh Horn and that "is considered slander or defamation of character", pointing out flaws and mistakes in workmanship cannot possibly be construed as slander.Regarding the reference to running the gas line for the generator, my husband *** contacted *** Gas and asked themwhat size gas line should be put in. They said 1/2" line would be fine. *** gave this information to Josh Horn and he purchased the necessary materials and installed the line on January 11, 2016. The problem is that he hooked the line to the low pressure side and it should have been installed to the high pressure sidewhich required an exterior gas line and the line replaced and buried. *** Gas came and did this workTheir bill was $402.80, and the Josh Horn Home Improvement bill was $864.00.My husband would never have said "just hook it up and get the misses off my back" because he does not talk that way. I believe Josh Horn is totally mistaken that this comment was made.Correcting the height on one pull out drawer, the gas line for thegenerator and the leaky toilet are the only "numerous extra tasks" we asked Josh Horn Home Improvement to do. The shelf was part of the kitchen job, and the other he was paid extra because it was not related to installation job.We are not trying to make money off Josh Horn Home Improvementby requesting a refund of $1500.00 We have paid $for the contractor's repair work, correction of the gas line by *** Gas and installation of kitchen hardware will be $or more.We paid Josh Horn Home Improvement $4650.00, and $for gas line. We are only asking him to refund what we have paid others. We do not think $is unfair, however we will reduce that amount to $if that will help him out.*** ** ***June 14,
