My comments refer to false advertising and malpractice on behalf of Joyce [redacted] of Joyce Osborne Electrolysis Clinic.I went to Joyce Osborne for electrolysis treatment to remove unwanted hair on my upper lip and chin. I had a total of 4 visits (June 15, June 22, July 6, July 27, 2012). On each visit I paid for 15 minutes of treatment and consistently received treatment for around 10 minutes or less, either due to my not having 'enough hair' for the duration and/or to Joyce taking phone calls during the time alloted for my appointment. Nevertheless I was charged for 15 minutes ($20 plus tax) rather than having it pro-rated. On the last visit I insisted on paying only $15, as I received 8 minutes' treatment. A client was waiting there, so Joyce obliged. Additionally, on my last two visits I noticed that Joyce did not consistently use the electrolysis needle to shock the hair follicle, as is standard practice, to be followed by using the tweezer to remove the hair. Rather, she used the tweezer to remove hair without the prior use of the elecrolysis needle, which causes the hair to grow back faster. I commented when I noticed she was not using the needle, and she responded that some people can't feel the difference. Having had electrolysis treatment in the past, I definitely know when the needle is being used because it sends a small electrical charge to the skin, and is followed by a noise by the machine. When I made this comment Joyce then proceeded to use the needle.I believe Joyce's failure to use the needle, according to standard electrolysis practice, is deceitful practice. Clients pay to have electrolysis, and when tweezers are used without electrolysis, clients are likely to return more quickly for follow-up treatment. I have contacted Joyce by phone and via email following my last appointment on July 27th to request a refund for $35 to be made my debit card, which I have used to pay and thus should appear in Joyce Osborne's records. I have not received a response nor a reimbursement
