As stated on the above review same thing happened to me. Denied our application and never check with my vet or references. I just don't think it is fair to the animals not to get a forever home and live without love affection etc.
I have been approved by all rescues. We are looking for a specific breed(Russian Blue mix)
So we a limited . Very disappointed with this rescue.
Maybe government should look into their non profit.
Joyful Rescues of Cuba, NY offers applications to adopt animals, which is a very intensive application. Upon filling it out, the application returned less than 24 hours, denied, without them ever checking all references and sources as they are stated to do. They failed to even attempt to do their job and quick to send out an almost immediate denial. I do understand the process of finding good homes to the right families, however they refuse to state the reason(s) as to why the denial was given.
however upon research, found they have denied numerous candidates who more than meet qualifications, and hoard all animals. They are a not-for-profit so they are not taxed on donations and use it to keep the animals in their quarters.
My complaints are as follows:
1) Questionable "business" practices that aren't done correctly, if at all in order to find these animals a home.
2) abuse in the not-for-profit organization in order to keep animals on premises and collect donations to keep those animals
