I only had a small repair job to have done due to high winds in March, but Moses did a thorough job of inspecting the rest of the roof for any further damage that I would not have been aware of. Thankfully, he reported that the only trouble spot was the area that I had suspected that it was. He also noted that the flashing on my two chimneys were in need of caulking, and he took care of that as well. Moses was very pleasant and personable, and I am glad to have had him do a good repair job for me.

Great job from Jason and the crew. Also from Brett. Joyland met and exceeded our expectations. Highly recommend!

Hi Travis, thanks so much for this great review! We're glad your roof looks so good.

Contacted Joyland because I had a leaking roof. They came out, provided and estimate, and stated they could temporarily fix the leak until they could get the full repair scheduled. After signing a contract and providing a down payment, I was informed their would be a charge to temporarily fix the roof; this charge was not mentioned AT ALL prior to signing the contract. I was told it would be approx. 4-6 weeks until they could get me on the schedule to fix the roof. After approx. 5 weeks I contacted the business to get an update. I was told by the end of the month (February)I would be on the schedule (also longer than the initial estimate of when they said they would complete the work). I requested to get a full refund since no work had been completed and I was able to find someone else to complete the job at a sooner date. I was told by an employee, Steve, that there was no special parts or orders attached to my account so a refund should not be a problem. I was later told they would take 20% of my initial deposit although they had not completed any work. Fast forward another week or so, they sent a refund check to my home of record (Pennsylvania) but it had the wrong name on it. I called several times and spoke with Steve again who asked me to send the check back to the company. I politely requested they send me a new check with the correct name on it to my California address. I told him I did not have time to send them the check back, it was their mistake, they should void/cancel the check, and they should fix the situation. During another phone call I requested an update on the new check being mailed out and Steve got upset, told me they WOULD NOT send a new check out, and hung up the phone on me. The next four days I tried contacting the business via phone and Facebook. I never received a call back. On 2/25 my father dropped the wrongly addressed check at the business. I finally received a call today (2/27) saying they have mailed a new check out. Many other issues but no room to input.

Up until this person (***) requested the refund, we had been dealing with his father. His father is the one who initially contacted us, and is even the one who signed the roofing contract. This is the obvious reason that we sent the refund check to his father, because his father was the one with whom we were doing business. As he states in his complaints, we had told him 4-6 weeks from the time that we are contracted, weather dependent. We received the contract and deposit check from his father on 1-8-2019. 2 hours after that was received, we contacted him to let him know that it would likely be near the end of February (6 week period) until we got to his project, due to weather. Again, all this communication was with his father, as that is how the relationship started and that's how they apparently wanted it.

On 2-8-19, our office received a phone call from Dan. He requested a refund since he found a buddy who could do the job sooner, and for less money. We told him that, while we had already received the signed contract from his father a month previous, and had already had this job in process, we would send out a refund check for the deposit amount minus 20%, due to a breach of contract and company policy in such cases. We mailed the check promptly to his father, as his was the billing address we had on file, due to him being the person handling the project.

*** became quite disagreeable at this time, complaining about the 20% fee, and about us having sent the check to his father, and said things like, "you don't need the money, you're a large company" and "you need to fix your own mess and send a check out to me right away" when we told him we would need to receive the check back from his father before re-sending it to him. A few days later, his father did in fact stop by our office with the refund check. He was pleasant. We mailed the check out to Dan that same day, and left a voicemail message on Dan's phone to let him know we had sent the check to an address he gave us in California.

Attached is the contract/proposal sent to me. Of note, it says "Cash/Check Terms: 25% deposit, Balance on completion." It does not indicate refunds will not be given for work not completed.

Hi Gary, thanks so much! We really appreciate you taking the time to share your positive experience working with us

A *** 40 roof was installed on our house in 1999 by ***. Paperwork shows it was supposed to be a 40 yr. roof. Over the years, *** has had to come and repair some leaks. On August 23, 2018, I called about leaking in the master bedroom, along with leaking in the kitchen. Someone came and I was told by the person that he had walked the roof and sealed what leaks he observed and that someone would contact me in a couple days. I received a letter stating that we wouldn't be charged for that trip, however, if leaks continued, they would recommend sealing all shingles over leak areas with a high-grade sealant. The sealing would be done along the edges of the shingles so that no water penetration was possible. But, we would be charged at the going service rate, plus time and materials used. It would likely cost a few hundred dollars. On Sept. 10th, I called again about more leaks in both the kitchen and master bedroom. He said he send someone to look at it and with rain coming, the guy would just put tarps over the affected areas. Which was done. Said someone would contact me with pricing and that the sealant would last 3-5 yrs. Oct. 9th, I called and said we have developed more leaking in another room. NO CALL. (I have been told by *** that the pitch in our roof requires another type of roof.) Mold has formed on one of the master bedroom leaks.

workmanship warranty in 1999 was 3 or 5 years from date of installation. Obviously, we are now almost 20 years into the life of the roof, well beyond the warranty period. I am willing to offer *** a solution, even at a steeply discounted price, but we will at least need to cover our expenses. Due to the fact that she was not interested in paying anything for any work, we were also unwilling to offer pricing and a solution.

We will be sending out a check for $1000 as assistance for the new roof. Once again, we maintain that *** had no liability or obligation in this case. Workmanship warranty was long expired, and the issue seemed to be with the product itself, for which *** never had any liability whatsoever. The roof was installed in good faith that the product would last the amount of time guaranteed by the manufacturer.
