The System was properly sized for best energy efficiency which is what the customer wantedSo I thought I think that's what he thought to until he realized it doesn't work the same as his old one and is just not what he is used toThe new furnace is a stage and runs at a lower output most of the timeAnd won't blow as hard or be as warmIts more designed to be like on cruise control and not turn on and offBut the system is properly installed and sized for best energy efficiency.I have most definitely tried to work with this customer and make things right That's the last thing I want is an unsatisfied customerI did tell him we could replace the furnace for a bigger one for just the cost of the furnace, at my costI have also told him I can have a heat load calculation report done for him and the city to see I did not say I cant remember how to size a system nor did I say that I didn't want him to have and inspection I said if it is inspected the inspector mite want to see a new heat load calculation done on the home Which I would need to have an outside company do and would cost a little extraThe heat load report was not on my bidAnd there are actually a lot of contractors that don't do there own reports But if or when the report is done for his home I'm absolutely positive it will say the size of furnace should be exactly what we installed I also told him a bout the price being off a little bit because I had miscalculated the upgrade prices for I told him I was giving it to him at cost Well the cost for all the upgrades was $more then I thoughtBut I did tell him that before I gave him the bill and he said he was OK with that I assumed because he realized what a good deal he was getting in the first place Most companies for the equipment we installed would be to times more expensive then what we chargedBut actually still haven't been paidI wouldn't have changed the price if he wasn't OK with itI would have ate the differenceIt actually seems to me that he is being very dishonest and is trying to get this system for freeI'm sure he compared quotes and I'm sure he looked at the differences So he knew what size we were installing and what size other companies had on their quotes You would think he would say something if there was a concern right? He says he has done all this research on this equipment before we installed it And well it actually seems a little to suspicious that his wife just so happened to have the check book with her that day so he couldn't get me a check He asked if I could come by the next day to pick up a check That's when he said he was unhappy and wanted to do more research and have an inspection before he paid I said that was fine But now is not working with me on solving this problem I did leave a message on his phone but was not crude nor threatening I only mentioned that I will have papers served and will see him in quart if he does not pay

Complaint: ***
I am rejecting this response because: The furnace failed the Provo City inspection because it is under sized.Provo City will not sign off on this furnace or my home remodel with this furnace in it.Contractors are required to adhere to building and mechanical codes and requirements. Second, I never said that efficiency was the highest priority or most important.I asked for a typical good high efficiency furnace and A/C system. In the industry, the old standard efficiency equals plus or minus 80%, today high efficiency is 90% or more (the highest efficiency available is 98.7%).95% to 96% efficiency is quite commonI asked for a 95% efficient furnace. You don't achieve maximum efficiency by under or over sizing a furnace. Third, from what I have read on line, other contractors, and the City inspector, the contractor doesn't seem to understand two stage furnace sizing. His description of how the two stage furnace works to me is not consistent with what I understand from other sources. All other contractors and the Provo City inspector indicate that the furnace as installed is way too small and will not be as efficient as a properly sized system. All of the above referenced professionals have recommended at least a 100,BTU/ Hrfurnace or larger.Again, you don't achieve maximum efficiency by under or over sizing a furnace. Fourth, even if the contractor gave me the system for free, I would still have to have it replaced in order to meet the Provo City's requirements.I have given the contractor time to make it right. He is not willing to do that.I will now have the system replaced.I will give his entire system back to him
Sincerely,

The System was properly sized for best energy efficiency.  which is what the customer wanted. So I thought.  I think that's what he thought to until he realized it doesn't work the same as his old one and is just not what he is used to. The new furnace is a 2 stage and runs at a lower...

output most of the time. And won't blow as hard or be as warm. Its more designed to be like on cruise control and not turn on and off. But the system is properly installed and sized for best energy efficiency.I have most definitely tried to work with this customer and make things right.  That's the last thing I want is an unsatisfied customer. I did tell him we could replace the furnace for a bigger one for just the cost of the furnace, at my cost. I have also told him I can have a heat load calculation report done for him and the city to see.  I did not say I cant remember how to size a system nor did I say that I didn't want him to have and inspection.  I said if it is inspected the inspector mite want to see a new heat load calculation done on the home.  Which I would need to have an outside company do and would cost a little extra. The heat load report was not on my bid. And there are actually a lot of contractors that don't do there own reports.  But if or when the report is done for his home I'm absolutely positive it will say the size of furnace should be exactly what we installed.  I also told him a bout the price being off a little bit because I had miscalculated the upgrade prices for I told him I was giving it to him at cost.  Well the cost for all the upgrades was $300 more then I thought. But I did tell him that before I gave him the bill and he said he was OK with that.  I assumed because he realized what a good deal he was getting in the first place.  Most companies for the equipment we installed would be 2 to 3 times more expensive then what we charged. But actually still haven't been paid. I wouldn't have changed the price if he wasn't OK with it. I would have ate the difference. It actually seems to me that he is being very dishonest and is trying to get this system for free. I'm sure he compared quotes and I'm sure he looked at the differences.  So he knew what size we were installing and what size other companies had on their quotes.  You would think he would say something if there was a concern right? He says he has done all this research on this equipment before we installed it.  And well it actually seems a little to suspicious that his wife just so happened to have the check book with her that day so he couldn't get me a check.  He asked if I could come by the next day to pick up a check.  That's when he said he was unhappy and wanted to do more research  and have an inspection before he paid.  I said that was fine.  But now is not working with me on solving this problem.  I did leave a message on his phone but was not crude nor threatening.  I only mentioned that I will have papers served and will see him in quart if he does not pay.
