J.P. Roofing & Construction

Builder will not follow through on warranty repairs. Our shingles are blowing off after 4.5 years and they gave a 5 year workmanship warranty.
On April 6, 8 & 9, 2019 we emailed J.P Roofing & Construction Ltd. stating that we were having problems with our roof. Our shingles which J.P. Roofing had replaced 4.5 years ago are blowing off.

Finally on April 10, 2019 *** phoned us and told us there was nothing she could do because it was almost 5 years, and our warranty was up. We explained to her that it was only 4 1/2 years, not 5, and she said it was close enough. Then she said that because we had wind in Lethbridge that it negates the warranty.

The only thing mentioned in the warranty is as follows:
"J.P. Roofing and Construction Ltd. carries a five year workmanship warranty on all repairs done to the home. The roof has been fully replaced with the Cambridge IR shingle, color Charcoal Grey, which carries a limited lifetime warranty...."

There is no small print stating that any circumstance would negate the warranty that they provided.

Upon the recommendation of IKO we contacted a trusted roofer who just happened to be one of ***'s sub-contractors. He came and inspected the roof and took a lot of pictures. ***

We can put a claim through insurance, but feel we should not have to pay the deductible and our insurance company should not have to pay for it either when we have a warranty.

We sent J.P. Roofing another email April 23 and a reminder on April 25, asking them to be professional and honor their warranty. We have had no response at all. She won't return phone calls or emails.

On a side note, less than a year after J.P. Roofing & Construction replaced our siding, it was blowing off too. Fortunately, they honored their warranty and fixed it. They have a proven record of poor workmanship.
