Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/09/08) */
9-8-2014
In response to the complaint:
The car was towed in July 24, 2014. We got the ok to start repairs after estimate uploaded to State Farm July 30th. We ordered parts and didn't receive the frame for the car till Aug 5, which...

was wrong, but received the correct one 2 days later. Repairs were in excess of $12,000.
Customer found the scrapping noise the night he picked up the vehicle and fixed it. A dust shield was rubbing. When customer picked up vehicle he knew one fog lamp was missing because we had received 2 fog lamps for the same side which we didn't realize till the last day of assembly .Customer also fixed the running light, (one bulb needed to be replaced), he also turned the door lock cover around on one door( it was turned backwards) . When the vehicle left we did not see any dash lights out during our test drives. The stabilization warning message was on and when scanned at the tire shop on Aug 21st it said we needed a steering wheel position sensor. We couldn't scan it sooner because we had been waiting for an air bag sensor that was back ordered. The air bag sensor was received Aug 21st and the circuit was complete for scanning. The steering wheel felt loose because the rubber boot on the tilt mechanism needed to be adjusted.
We had told customer about the fog lamp missing and the stabilization warning light on before he picked up the car Aug 22. He kept insisting to us that was ok he just wanted to pick up the car. He would come back when the parts were in. The vehicle was picked up Friday Aug 22 by customer
Customer returned on Sat Aug 23 and told the owner, of his wife's concerns. We told him to bring it back in on Monday when we were open and we would pay for his rental car. Car was dropped off Aug 26. Customer told us not to worry about the dash lights he had been working on them over the weekend, we noted they were not working yet when we inspected the vehicle . We had done some research on that problem and told him there had been a recall on them. Customer picked up vehicle Aug 28.
Initial Consumer Rebuttal /* (3000, 7, 2014/09/17) */
(The consumer indicated he/she DID NOT accept the response from the business.)
That is mostly accurate. I did not know at the time that my husband insisted in getting the car however, if it was not ready then that is on the body shop and it left their shop needing several adjustments following three people test driving the car-unacceptable. There were two more times the car had to go back to them to fix sensors and an AC issue. Dash lights remain out and the car from the first time it was in the shop and is over mileage for the recall which they would have realized in their research. The dash lights were working before the damage to the car and my husband was told they don't know why they weren't working. Because of the way the car was reassembled, I request to have the Bureau of Automotive Repair inspect my vehicle for the work completed for me to be satisfied that the work was done correctly and to close this complaint. We did not receive an itemized receipt of repairs which I understand is CA law, but that may be because it had to go to State Farm. If Revdex.com could support obtaining a line item receipt of repairs/costs, I can follow up with the BAR. Thank you.

Final Business Response /* (4000, 9, 2014/10/06) */
Mr. came back in on Sept 2 and said the A/C was not cold anymore. We orginially had installed a used A/C condensor per the estimate. Mrs had the vehicle at work and we asked Mr to bring vehicle in the next day for inspection. I ordered an A/M A/C condensor from 1-800-Radiator to have here the next morning just in case it needed to be replaced. Upon inspection the next day we found a pin hole leak at the fitting causing a slow leak.We did a pressure check and inspected all the lines. We replaced the A/C condensor and recharged the system. Vehicle was picked up 9-5-14.
We spoke with Mr again about the dash lighs
after we received their rebuttual about the lights no longer being under the recall because of milage. Mr [redacted],the owner, called Mr and told him he had found a company in [redacted] that will refurbish the dash componants. He asked him to speak with his wife and bring the vehilce in on Tues. Sept 30 for the day. We would remove the dash and Mr [redacted] would drive it to Stockton and wait while it was refurbished that day and try to get it back to him the same day. Mr called back and said Ok for that date. On Monday Sept 29, he cancelled for that date and said he would get back to us. Today, Oct 6 Mr. [redacted] called and left message to Mr about getting car in to get dash issue repaired. Mr. just called back and they will drop off tomorrow AM and leave locked up out front for repairs.
Orginially Mr was given a folder with a complete final itemized estimate enclosed, work order receipt, and warranty upon pick-up. I will attach a copy of our repairs to you. We have
never actually seen or spoke with Mrs. to address her concerns. We have absolutely no problem with the vehicle being inspcted for safety. We have been in buisness for 30 years and stand behind all of our work.
