J.R.'s Custom Tile

An employee of *** recommended J.R.'s Custom Tile to me as someone who could properly install vinyl tile with grout. He also said he would be good to replace the shoe molding since he is a former trim carpenter. I was told he is a "perfectionist." However, the job was started back in July of 2019, and is still not complete or correct.

At this time, the grout is still not properly installed in the lines between the tiles. I have rusts in my yard from one of his employees. J.R. left so much water on my flooring that it caused the door facing at the front door to become damaged. He purchased 8' shoe molding, so I have shoe molding that is pieced together in lengths as short as 6'. As anyone knows, this does not make for a smooth transition. There are also nails that are not flush, so it is impossible to sand and paint the shoe molding without sinking the nail heads.

J.R. refused to install the flooring at the carpet edges as I requested. He also told me how HE does the shoe molding ends and would not cut them as I wanted them to be cut. Some of the tiles are not flush/flat to the foundation. And, the grout lines are not all straight.

The employee at *** and I both told J.R. about the issues, but he will not fix them. I have been left to repair the door facing, the ruts in the yard, and to replace the shoe molding with appropriate lengths. The grout has been re-worked at least three times, and still is not correct. *** is telling me this is a workmanship issue, not a warranty issue, so I have no recourse from the manufacturer.
