I am rejecting this response because: I am not stupid nor do I lie. I know what I was told. I even repeated the amount of $1000 to be sure I heard her correctly and received an acknowledgement. I do remember that last year I had called and they had quoted the $1295 price which I rejected. That is not the case here. Last year they tried to fix the old water heater and could not. I was told by the plumber at that time that if I bought one from them they would apply what I paid for their failed attempt to fix the old one. I assumed that when they quoted me the recent price that they had acted on the promise they gave me. I had no reason to doubt the price they quoted me, so I agreed to the price and the installation. I do not understand why they would go back on the price quoted. If I had known they would I would have hired another plumber. I hold honesty as the most important part of any contract or any other interaction with others. I do not lie and know exactly what I heard. I am retired from a career in IT and know the importance of ethical business standards. I held to that standard all those years and still do. From my previous experience with this company I had hoped for a long term relationship with them. Their plumbers are first class folks but at this point it can not be said of the office staff. If this is the kind of ethics that the company management condones then I have no desire to do future business with them. If their management is willing to acknowledge the lack of ethics of their staff and make this right our relationship can be saved. It is in their best interest to do so and I hope they do.
