*** *** ***) came over and gave us a bid to paint both the interior and exterior of a house my sister and I inherited when we lost our dad unexpectedlyNeedless to say this was very important to us and we told *** how important it was that he do a good jobWe did not ask him to go cheap - we were clear that we wanted excellent work doneHe said that his work was guaranteed for yearHe provided one foreman on the job who left our house completely unlocked on the first day on the job as all of the employees took a lunch break and left our house vacant with all of the doors open, including the garage door which had all of our belongings in itWhen confronted the foreman said that none of the employees were trained painters or had any experience doing this work so he would now advise them on locking the house and would oversee them betterShortly thereafter the foreman left the job and *** was out of the country*** did not replace the foreman so we had no one managing our

Complaint: ***I am rejecting this response because:
Mr*** has made no attempts whatsoever to work with us for a satisfactory resolution to the failure of his company's paint job as he claimsHe has only done the following: (1) offered to fix the work only if we pay him to do so and (2) to assess what has gone wrong in his workWe flat out rejected #as he guaranteed his work and we should not have to pay him, nor would we, to fix his company's errorsWe accepted #and have not heard from him since
Since our submission of this complaint, my sister and I have had two independent painting contractors come out to as the paint jobThey both independently said that the bubbling of the paint all over the house and the rust showing through is either a failureto use primer at all or is a result of not using primer appropriate for our house (wood)They said that if he used primer, he used one that is much cheaper than the one appropriate for woodThey also said that the peeling of the paint on all of the door frames inside the house as well as on the back of the front door is from not using primer, as appropriate on oil based paintThe cost to fix these issues in JRW painting's work is estimated to be the same as the total cost we were charged by JRW painting to paint the exterior of the houseBoth of these painting companies said that they would and always do come back and fix for free any failures that may occur in any of their paint jobsWe have their written evaluations of JRW painting's work as well as their estimatesGiven the response we have received in the Revdex.com process from JRW Painting we are now pursuing several other avenues to recoup the monies we paid JRW painting.
I've attached the most recent pictures of the paint job - as you can see the bubbling in the paint is getting worse over timeIt has now been months and days since the completion of the job
Sincerely,*** ***

Complaint: [redacted]I am rejecting this response because:
My sister and I are not surprised by Mr. [redacted]’s response to this complaint as we have been emailing him since February 2017 about these issues and he has responded by lying, not taking responsibility for the failure of his company’s work on our home and attempting to bully us. This is consistent with our experience of Mr. [redacted] while his company was working on our property as well. Despite multiple issues with his company’s work that surfaced during the project, the only thing for which he expressed accountability is that he left an inexperienced crew to do this job without a foreman while he was out of the country.
In his response to our complaint with the Revdex.com Mr [redacted] states that he disagrees with “much of the content of this complaint,” yet isn’t forthcoming about the areas in which he concurs with our claim. We disagree with his contention that he “tried to work with and for a satisfactory completion of this project.” Despite stating that his work was guaranteed for a full year when we hired him, Mr. [redacted] has refused to take responsibility for the failure of his work, which began within 5 months of completion and has instead blamed us for it.
In February 2017, his company’s work began to fail considerably, including rust showing through the paint and peeling and bubbling of the paint. On 2/27/17 we emailed Mr. [redacted] to alert him to the issues that had emerged in the work and request that he address them. We have written to Mr. [redacted] on several occasions since then, most recently on 4/27/17. In these emails, we provided both descriptions and photos of the problems and requested that he address the failure. Mr. [redacted]’s responses to our email requests have been to: a) blame us for the failure; b) claim we asked him to cease and desist work and kicked him off the job; c) offer to fix the work IF we pay him to do so AND take our [redacted] review off the site AND sign paperwork stating that neither we nor anyone associated with us will write bad reviews of his company, which we consider to be bullying behavior and understand is illegal; d) assure us that this is all “in God’s hands”; and e) finally, after we filed this request, offer to come to the property to assess the issues we’ve raised. [Regarding “e” above, we responded affirmatively on 5/3/17 that he is welcome to take a look at the damage on the exterior of the house but we haven’t heard from him since.]
Mr. [redacted] indirectly acknowledged that the bubbling paint is indeed a failure but blamed it on us for the [redacted] paint we chose.  His claims that we asked him to cease and desist work prior to completion are untrue; we paid him in full for the work. In fact, on 11/18/16 after the last of several “final” walkthroughs to confirm completion of the project we provided a final payment on the spot of $2,890, noted as “final payment” on the check, and subsequently left him and his crew at the property to finish things up (e.g., address the final issues he had agreed to complete in the walkthrough, label the extra paint cans he left for us in the garage, etc.) We have a witness who was present at that last walk through and can attest to this. [NOTE: Our original contract with Mr. [redacted] was for $11,835, which included interior and exterior work. Due to several additions and subtractions to this contract between 10/3/16 to 11/18/16, the total work came to $11,725 ($6,125 of which was for the exterior of the house), which we paid him for in full.]
We have email evidence of all of the communications with Mr. [redacted] described above, as well as pictures documenting the failed work, which we are happy to provide. As stated in our 5/3/17 statement emailed to [redacted] at the Revdex.com, we would not be able to resolve our complaint by having JRW painting attempt to “fix” the job for three reasons: 1) lack of confidence in the quality of Mr. [redacted]’s work; 2) lack of trust in his care for our property, and 3) we feel threatened by him, as he is a large, aggressive person who has bullied us.
We are requesting a full refund of $6,125 for the exterior paint job so that we can pay another painter to re-paint the exterior of our home.
Sincerely,[redacted]
