I was looking for legal assistance regarding a devastating situation. A woman defrauded me, and I ultimately lost my home which foreclosed on March 5, 2019. Because I had a signed contract with this woman, I could file a lawsuit for a breach of contract. I sought legal advice around the same time I lost my job. I scheduled an appointment with The Law Office of Judith Delus P.A. on May 10, 2019, for a consultation. I brought the notarized agreement as well as the demand notice from the mortgage company. After explaining the situation, Attorney Montgomery said my case was something they could handle and noted the steps they would take, 1) perform a skip trace to locate the woman, 2) issue a warrant for her arrest, 3) file the suit for breach of contract, and 4) dispute the balance with the bank since the agreement said the woman had assigned the debt to her. She said I would need to pay a $3,000 retainer's fee and she would get someone on my case. I specifically told Attorney Montgomery how I was tight on funds and would be using the money to start my own business, so paying the $3,000 would be a strain. I asked if the $3,000 would go a long way and get to a point where we could potentially get the woman in court, and there might be a chance I could get my legal fees back. I trusted the attorney and decided to pay the retainer's fee that day because I cared more about the woman brought to justice so she would not defraud anyone else. On June 14, the legal assistant informs me that my balance was low. I asked for a copy of the invoice. Nothing that we discussed during the consultation was noted on the invoice. The skip trace was not completed. No warrant issued, nor anything filed with the court. There were excessive charges noted on the invoice for researching, writing letters and preparing documents. One charge of $330 was for preparing a letter to the mortgage company. I spoke with a representative who said they had no correspondence on file. Attorney Montgomery does not practice with integrity.

Refund I called Attorney Montgomery's office and emailed several times to address my concerns and she never returned my calls. I only received a letter stating the services would be terminated due to the depleted retainer balance. She did not attempt to resolve the issue. Due to the poor service, lack of results nor proof that any work was done on my behalf, I requested a full refund of the $3,000 retainer so I can find an attorney genuinely sincere about my case and bringing this woman to justice.
