Initial Business Response /* (1000, 5, 2014/08/19) */
Ms. [redacted] contacted our office about her child who attended a field trip that she was not present for. When her son arrived with the school, our staff was informed that he was not 12 months which meant that he was included with the...

count of children who had to pay. She later called and said he was 12 months and wanted a refund for the field trip fee. Our company was paid by the school at a field trip rate. The rate that Ms. [redacted] paid include other fees that I am not aware of that was charged by her child's school. The confirmation count was done the day before the trip. These are the children that were paid for and that we billed for. She contacted us after the field trip was over and I explained to her that it was confirmed by the adults in charge that the child had to pay. I am not sure what remedy she is looking for. As far as I am aware, my staff followed all of the appropriate rules as we always do with schools and fieldtrips. This is an issue that she may want to clear up with the school.

When I spoke with the manager later that day, she informed me that she asked my son's age. The daycare personnel informed her that he was 1 year old. She then proceeded to charge him for full admission. The resolution I'm asking for is that the Jump n Jam facility change their policy to "under 12 months free" versus "12 months and under free" seeing as though they do not honor the current policy. It would reduce confusion drastically, seeing as though my son should still be considered free until 8/28/14 when he turns 13 months. More established and courteous businesses compensate when they are in the wrong, however that is not the case at hand.

We have reviewed [redacted]'s complaint and we agree with most of what she has claimed. A very important point to mention is...

that [redacted] was called twice during the time when me and my team were making the decision on whether or not to close. The inital call to [redacted] was at 9:40am. As she mentioned she was very insistent about having her party at 1pm because that is what she paid for. I then continued to talk to my team as well as my food vendor who was supplying the food for her party. The decision was for us to close. When I spoke with [redacted] I explained that the weather was extremely bad and was scheduled to get worse at 2pm. Here response to me was that "it was just a little snow." When we spoke with the other party parents, they were disappointed but very understanding and they all rescheduled their parties. We had multiple other parties booked for this day as well as being open to the public for open play. She was not our only event. I apologized for the inconvenience but she was still not pleased. I also offered to reschedule her party to another day and she said no. Her full refund was processed the next day via a check and she called on 2/3/15 and said she would be in to pick up her refund and not to mail it. She came to the office on 2/4/15 and picked up her refund. Therefore, we are unclear as to her request for a refund.
The incident that occurred was very unfortunate, but the weather was considered an act of God which was beyond our control. This was the only customer that we had an issue with.

All I know if you look at the reviews on this place online NO I am not the only customer complaining. I got my money and I have put the word out to anyone who think about having anything at this facility. 20 inches of snow is an untruth but if it makes this so called owner feel better about herself and her business then so be it. Its a shame when you have little mom n pop businesses you try to support but they need to take a class in customer service because I'm a firm believer in what you put out there is what you get back and when business is not doing so well don't ask why.
