Review: The reason for this complaint is because I had signed up back in March with the Jugle Gym to start class on April [redacted]. I had signed a contract to which they never gave me a copy of. I went in April [redacted] which was a Saturday to cancel my membership because I would be moving from the Bronx to Queens. I went in personally and wrote a letter to cancel which I have a copy of which was received by Steven. The gym is doing everything in their power to charge me for classes when I had cancelled in a timely matter. They ask for many different things, first it was they needed the lease (which I have but is under my fiancé name) then they asked me for a utility bill (which once again is under my fiancé name) so I went ahead and sent them a bank statement so they can see I have changed all my information to my new address. The person responsible for the fiances responded with the following:

I must also add that after checking the distance of where you claim to live now it is only 11.9 miles away from the school which is 13 miles under the 25 mil minimum limit that you need in order to cancel without penalty. Even if you have sufficient proof of your new residence it would not be far enough. We have students from [redacted] that train here that live further out than you.

As it stand now you cannot cancel based on the distance of your new address. You may only cancel by paying the cancellation fee as it is stated on your copy of the contract. You will have to pay half of the remaining balance which is now 895.50 and you will still owe your past due balance which is 398. Master Chim, the owner of Jungle Gym Martial Arts has told me he will allow you to cancel at $600 instead of 895.50. You will still have the past due balance as well.

I am now trying to seek legal action, this is an absurd charge and unfair to a customer who has done everything in her power to cancel in a professional matter. I do not know how they think I will commute from work to the Bronx for just an hour class to then commute home?

If there is any more information needed to move forward please let me know, I would hate for someone else to experience this horrible situation.Desired Settlement: I am expecting my $199 refunded back to the card they used unauthorized. I have disputed with the credit card company but they have taken their side because of the contract they never gave me.

If it wasn't for disputing the charges with Capital One I would have never seen a copy of the contract.

Review: I was given a [redacted] from Jungle Gym that stated 12 MMA classes with one private session. I went the first time as a visitor for a trial and I was offered to sign up that day in order to obtain a discount on a membership. I was asked to pay a deposit for a total of $699 on within 2 weeks. I was told that the Membership will begin on January [redacted], or after the usage of the 12 MMA sessions as stated on the [redacted] Voucher. I was only able to use 3 sessions out of the 12. I reached the [redacted] ([redacted]), and after explaining to him my desired to cancel the membership that was about to start, he informed me that it was not possible for them to return the money back. He claimed that the [redacted] Voucher was used as a form of payment for a month and that my Contract had started the day that I Sign up for the membership. Today I was charge an additional $99 for a membership that was not supposed to be activated until the usage of my Voucher.

I feel robbed for my hard-work earned money, I visited the gym 3 times with my voucher and now they refuse to return my money.Desired Settlement: I would like the Gym management to fully refund my Money, $799 as of today, January [redacted].

Review: I saw an advertisement about 47 days free training at jungle gym, I went one day enjoyed the training session. after my session I was given a bunch of paper work to fill out, and shown prices for joining the gym. they were way too high, the lowest being 200 a month, the rep from jungle gym explained not to worry just sign up there will be no charges unless you decide to join. I couldn't add that to my expenses but they still charged me 200 dollars. I got in contact with the head of the gym explaining to him my financial situation and he explained that if I wanted to cancel my membership I had to pay a cancellation fee of 1100.00 dollars. I proceeded to explain if I cant pay 200.00 a month how would I make that cancellation payment? He has since not contact me since and I can not afford to make another payment, all I want to do is have this cancelled. I haven't attend anymore sessions.Desired Settlement: I just want them to stop billing me for a membership I never signed up for.

Review: I purchased a $27.00 [redacted] Voucher to use 12 Jungle Gym MMA classes. I went to the facility on 3/**/15 and informed the Jungle Gym staff of my voucher. They accepted it and informed me to write foundation and that would cover my 12 sessions. I stayed for one class and a Jungle Gym staff member requested to meet with me. The staff member attempted to sell me additional classes and I informed them I'm only using the [redacted] Voucher I purchased. The staff member requested credit or debit card information if I decided to purchase more classes. I informed them I didn't want to leave the information. The persons stated that was ok and I could continue using my voucher for the remaining 11 classes. I never returned. A collection company contacted me in May stating I owe $199 for the Jungle Gym membership. I contacted Jungle Gym and informed them I never agreed to the membership and their staff member added information to the billing form after I left the facility. I stated I never gave them any credit/ debit information in agreement of the membership. The contact person stated they have the bill and I have to pay. I attempted to contact [redacted] to get help with this issue and they were unable to help me as well. The advertisement on [redacted] never stated I had to become a member at Jungle Gym to use the voucher. I never agreed to membership fees and the Jungle Gym's staff person filled out the information without my knowledge. Jungle Gym has not collected any fees from me and I have not paid any fees. Please help me resolve this issue.Desired Settlement: I want current and future bills eliminated and any reports to all creditors of any delinquent payments removed from my credit report.

Thank you.

Review: I had chosen to enroll at the Jungle Gym Martial Arts on 2/**/2013. I was led to believe by the staff that my contract was a month to month plan for $199 with a 30 day cancellation notice. I directly asked the staff of the cancellation policy, and was suggested that it only included a 30 day cancellation notice, and could be done at any time. When I informed the facility of my plan to cancel my membership on 6/**/2012, I was told of a much more extensive cancellation policy including payment for 50% of the remainder of the year, and "banking" of time already paid for for presumed re-enrollment. It was informed that an additional $796 was due within three business days to terminate the agreement. The facility suggests that honor and commitment are key principles to participating in the gym. Unfortunately, hiding behind "fine print" and misrepresenting the nature of the agreement argue to the contrary. I am willing to forward all correspondence I have had thus far with the Jungle Gym regarding the matter.Desired Settlement: I am willing to pay through the 30 day cancellation notice, i.e. an additional $199.

Review: When I walked pass This business in 2012 I was waived down by an associate, me and my child went in this business and they gave us a tour. But before the tour I had to sign paperwork for safety reasons. I was also explain about special prices that they had for that month. I signed the paperwork and received the tour, I told the associate that I was not interested at the moment and he told me that the sale price will be there for 6 months. 3 years later I have a debt in collection by this business for $2,299. My child has never attended any martial arts, these people are con artist and they are ripping people off and they have no integrity. They charged me for classes that my child has not attended. I have reached out to them via email and phone and they were very rude. They stated that I shouldn't have signed the paper work and a male associate hung up the phone on me.Desired Settlement: I would like for this business to stop putting me in this type of behavior to collections and they need to be fined for. I need this off my credit report it has affected my credit score.

Review: When I first signed up I was told after two weeks I'd be able to take the other classes, at that time I was not told they would cost more. I was only told they would be more. Now that's been two weeks and I attempt to take the other classes, I'm told that I have to pay an additional cost to take those classes, which was not told to me at the time of the signing. I feel that this membership was falsely represented. After speaking with [redacted] and [redacted], they both told me it was my assumption and that it was my fault that I thought I wouldn't have to pay more. Again, no one told me that it was even an option to pay more to gain access to those classes.Desired Settlement: I already paid $149 to start which is fine, but I still have two more payments of $147 left on the contract. I would like to cancel my contract now and not have to pay the last additional payments as I feel I was swindled, and that this was a bait and switch tactic used to get me to sign the contract, then try to extort more money afterwards. Again, I was not told in order to take the additional classes that I told would be accessible to me after two weeks, that I would have to upgrade my my membership and pay more.
