Junk King Worcester County Reviews (1)

Misrepresentation/deceptive sales tactics/lying in writing and on the phoneI bought a [redacted] for [redacted] which would provide me with "1/8th of a dump truck load of junk removal". The [redacted] also noted that this was 1.5 cubic yards. I thought this was misleading since those two measurements don't match. So I called the company to inquire. I was assured that the offer was for 1/8th of a dump truck load, which she also told me corresponded to about 1.5 normal sized pick-up truck loads. When the company arrived to take my junk, they said all they could take was ONE CHAIR. They added two additional pieces of rubber padding on top of the chair and said anything else would be an extra charge. Clearly the one chair is not 1/8th of a dump truck load. I also asked if they could take a mattress when I spoke with them and they said 'sure'. But when they arrived, the driver told me even if I chose to pay to have them take it there would be an additional surcharge....which isn't what I was told on the phone. They are intentionally misleading customers with the [redacted] as a way to get in the door and upsell, and clearly their advertising/offer is a lie. Please fix this so others don't suffer as I have.Desired SettlementA refund and admission of guilt!Business Response Contact Name and Title: [redacted] / ownerIn response to the complaint written by Mr. [redacted] I could not agree more that an apology is necessary however I really doubt Mr. [redacted] will give one based on the interaction I had with him. He was not only rude but threatening towards me and my employee. He told me that he is an attorney and said it not only with an attitude but a tone and or body language and facial expression that he was going to sue me and make me rue the day I ever met him. Mr. [redacted] then proceeded to yell and order me off of his property with a tone and body language as if I did not leave immediately he was going to call the police. I do not appreciate this type of behavior and, I can not conduct business with someone if they choose to threaten me and my employees. I am not sure where Mr. [redacted] practices law but if this is how he conducts himself in a courtroom I would suspect he would not be practicing law for too long. I arrived at Mr. [redacted]'s house to redeem and do service for a [redacted] that he purchased 1.5 cubic yards for half off our regular price of [redacted] for [redacted] Mr. [redacted] did not read the Groupon details and admitted that he had no idea what 1.5 cu/yards is and also did not know what 1/8th of a truck is. That was his words not mine, I started to explain to him what the volume was and Mr. [redacted] cut me off and said, "I don't care, just take what you can". It should be noted here that the pile Mr. [redacted] had in his basement was giant and I believe he thought he could fill our truck up for the [redacted] deal... I tried to explain to him at this point if you are not happy with what the service offers he is welcomed to contact [redacted] and ask for a refund. Mr. [redacted] said "nope just take what you can, I don't care" Mr. [redacted] further said "just hurry up and get out of my house" I then asked him what is more important within the pile of stuff that he would like to see gone. He stated that the chair was important so we took the chair and then took in addition to the chair 3 piles of foam flooring that was the type of flooring that would be in a kid's room. I guess that the flooring would have covered a space at least 8ft by 10ft probably more. After bring these items from the basement to the truck that was in the driveway, Mr. [redacted] left to get me the [redacted] voucher, when he came back out of his house he started to yell at me that this was not fair and the deal says 1.5 truckloads. I held up the [redacted] and said "sir it does not say that anywhere on the [redacted] it does however say 1.5 cubic yards". Mr. [redacted] became inflamed and started with the threats of I am an attorney and I can't wait to make some complaints and problems for you and then followed with GET OFF MY PROPERTY. It was obvious to me that Mr. [redacted] had a anger management issue and was not going to be happy with anything I said, so I left.To be exact the following is the dimensions is 1 cubic yard 36 inches by 36 inches by 36 inches and the following dimensions are exactly 1.5 cubic yards 41 inches deep, by 41 inches long, by 41.5 inches deep. And the chair we took was an oversized arm chair that looked like a couch only not as wide. The 3 piles of flooring were taped up in bundles and were over a foot in each direction. I not only removed the 1.5 cubic yards but removed far more than that. I really hope that Mr. [redacted] takes another look at the [redacted] deal and reads it slowly and thoroughly so he can see exactly what he bought. For someone who claims to be an attorney he doesn't have much attention to detail. He claimed at the house it says 1.5 truckloads and I told him no it doesn't say that, he claimed it in his complaint he wrote to [redacted] it says 1.5 truckloads and I told him no in that response, and now here he is for a 3rd time saying it's 1.5 truckloads. Mr. [redacted] either can not read or he is just being pigheaded. Mr. [redacted] also claims someone told him that 1/8 of a truck is equal to 1.5 truckloads, that is funny, no one told him that. The folks that work the phones at the call center handle thousands of calls a month and deal with questions such as volumes on a regular basis they would not and do not make that type of mistake and do not quote prices or volumes over the phone, Mr. [redacted] is a liar NOONE said it's 1.5 pick-up trucks that is a guarantee. I would love to speak with the Bar Association about his professional conduct and how he chooses to through his title around with threatening tones and them yell and scream at people. I really feel like he has some type of anger management issue, I really feel like if he chooses to act like an adult we could have worked something out however he did not want to talk about anything just "hurry up and get out of my house" was his attitude. Sorry we could not help you Mr. [redacted] but it doesn't seem like anything would have helped except for me to take 1.5 truckloads which would mean I would be doing the job for a huge loss and money out of my pocket. Sorry I can't do that, the [redacted] deal is already a zero profit deal for me, first [redacted] takes half of the $79. And the remaining balance barely covers my cost to drive 1 hour in my truck with my employee to come get your stuff and truck it away. Junk King is a for profit organization and we do not work for free, this is a conscious decision. Just as you are an attorney for profit you do not work for free right? In fact I bet you charge way more than you should for a lot of things.
