Justin's Towing Reviews (6)

I Justin Owner of Justin's Towing & Storage Inc am responding regarding a complaint towards my business, Unfortunately our towing company is contracted to businesses & residential areas were they have parking issues due to conjested living in the New York City Area. When there are twenty...

posted signs that warn you on a property PARKING for ABC only and you leave the property for any reason or lenght of time before or after patronizing the premises of that parking lot you will be towed at your own expense. Our company and our contracted parking areas don't know what anothers intentions will be we just know what there actions were. The complainent clearly states he had to patronize another business wether before or after shopping at the premises that holds the parking lot he was towed from.

Review: Justins towing hitched a vehicle to be towed even though the [redacted] was at the vehicle. The cops were called, and because they hitched it before the cops got there, we had to pay $68.00 to have the vehicle unhitched. They should never hitched up a vehicle to tow when the person my son identified that he was a resident and had the keys for that vehicle. I believe that what they did is illegal, and there have been many complaints from resident regarding the unsavory practices of this towing company. They lay in wait for people, and have look outs and then swoop down and tow residents and their families vehicles in a very rude and aggressive manner.Desired Settlement: I want my money returned.

Review: They towed my car from a private parking lot even though I have lease that I signed with the building management and charged my wife $133 for letting the car go. At first they didn't want tolled the car go and drove to the end of the block where my wife ran after their truck to stop them from towing the car as she had to go pick up my son from the school who is only 4 years of age. She ran after them all the way to the end of the block crying and screaming for them to stop so she can explain to them that we have a lease / contract with the building management to park and also have an assigned spot in the lot but they didn't care and told her that they have to charge her $136 to let the car go. Since she was worried about my son and didn't have the money she searched the house and collected whatever she could find to pay these people to get the car back so she can go and pick up our son. This business should not be allowed to conduct any future business with anyone the way they treated and humiliated my wife on the street today. I do not recommend anyone to use them for any type of services they need. Good way of making money from innocent people by towing their car and charging them so much money without any valid reason. Way to go Justin's towing and storage robbers!!!Desired Settlement: I would like to get a full refund because there was no valid reason to tow my car when I signed the lease for the parking spot and pay my monthly bill on time every single month for the past two years.

Review: On 8/**/2015 while shopping at Deal Store Located at [redacted] My car was towed out of the parking lot. No once did anyone announce was the owner of a Toyta Corolla in the Store. I thought my car was stolen when I asked the gentlemen that check the bag told me a tow truck took someone car and to call the number. I did call and was asked did I leave the lot and I told them no they said that they had to check the tape they called me back and said that they would bring back my car. I asked for copies of the paper that the store gave them to ok to tow my car but none was given. This towing company works with the landlord and had a guy sitting in the parking lot and he made the mistake. I have left several message with this towing company on 8/** and 8/**/2015 and not once has any one no the owner have the courteous to call me back to apologize. I have back problems and was unable to park in a handicap lane because they was full it took them over 45 min to bring back my car I was in so much pain and upset because I didn't pay the driver said that this is some *word rejected*. I fell this tow company was out to make a quick dollar and did not try to find out if the owner was in the store. I went back to Deals and spoke with the manger and the same person that was sitting in the lot that day that had my car towed away was still working for that towing company. I fell that I am not the first person this has happen to but I want to be the last person this happen to.Desired Settlement: This owner of this company need to contact me

Review: This towing company does business in a poor neighborhood and targets families and women. Justin has a junk yard in Queens near a drug store. Many cars have been towed from the parking lot of the [redacted] on [redacted]. illegally (see [redacted] complaints), including my Minicooper on 12/**/15. My mother in law, aged 86, lives nearby the store. I parked in the parking lot as a customer, in order to pick up the medication she needed. While waiting my turn in the store, I spoke with her by cell phone to make sure I had the correct prescription and her doctors name. Her medication had not been called in by her doctor, and after some minutes, I left the store. Within those several minutes, my car was gone and I thought it was stolen! Despite the towing company's claim, I heard no one asking about my car, nor was I approached by anyone in the store while on the phone or otherwise..

I noticed that there was a man leaning against the wall outside on his cell phone. There were dark signs posted at the end of the parking lot which warned of towing and the address. The informer was disheveled and seemed in poor health, but nonetheless is paid by this operation, and is therefore dependent upon car removal for his living. When told of the pick up address, I had to walk several blocks to find the lot in the dark, and was charged 134.00 to release my car, along with another family who had the same experience. The employee refused to hear my assertion that I was a customer, and just demanded my license and cash, standing in the dark junkyard. This shakedown of families amounts to abuse and theft of property.

I had no receipt to show the owner, since I did not purchase any medication!! The thuggish owner did not even care to hear my complaint, or my demands to release my car which was blocked by his tow truck. I feared for damage to my car if I left, and decided not to call 911 and wait in the freezing dark junkyard with this crew of thieves. This scam operation illegally targets women and families with children, decides what a customer is or is not, then adamantly acts as judge and jury.

This was theft of 134.00 CASH, and I demand refund and damages for my car being mistreated and my own suffering and trauma in the amount of $200. A similar shakedown operation was eliminated 1 year ago at the same site after a detective was towed. This holiday season is time for predators like Justin to be stopped.Desired Settlement: This was theft of $134.00 in cash. I have photos of the prescriptions at [redacted] for which I was waiting. I have witness contacts and accounts taken by bystanders. I had to borrow $100 from my elderly mother in law to get my car back. I demand refund and damages for my car being mistreated and my own suffering and trauma in the amount of $200. A similar shakedown operation in a poor neighborhood was eliminated 1 year ago at the same site after a detective's car was towed. Response:

First and foremost Justin's Towing & Storage Inc. is a professional neighborhood business. We are contracted with [redacted] and have the authority to tow vehicles that are illegally parked on the property. Prior to moving any vehicle(s) we have a staff member from [redacted] make an announcement providing the license plate number as well as the make & model of the vehicle. We also have over eight large signs posted around the entire perimeter of the parking lot. Our yard is located at [redacted] which is approximately four blocks for the [redacted] lot. We have several lights on at all times at our towing yard as well as surveilling cameras to ensure the safety of not only our customers and also their vehicles. [redacted] was seen parking her vehicle and immediately entering a home across the street from the [redacted] location. We safely towed her illegally parked vehicle and she was charged the legal fee of $136.09. We service ma ny areas 24/7 and many people rely on us for help. As a father, husband, and hardworking owner of this company I am offended at such despicable allegations and remarks. My business does not and will never target anyone by gender, race, economic status etc. Futhermore, I will continue to legally and professionally run my business and service the good people of my neighborhood.

Response:

I have reviewed the response made by the business in reference to complaint ID# [redacted], and have determined that my complaint has NOT been resolved because:

[Your Answer Here]Justin uses a spotter who then calls the tow truck immediately..the question of being a customer is not his concern. His claim of checking the store is invalid. He does no such thing, as it would result in lower profits. This is a sting operation, and those caught have NO defense. He demands a receipt to prove that one is a customer, as if he can dictate what outcome a shopper might decide....I had no receipt because the Rx was not called in, for example, and am tired of having to defend my property rights, shopping rights and access to my family before his business model. These are easy pickings for a shake down business...poor people with no legal representation or sense of legal rights. Justin also towed a car with an occupant inside, apparently because they did not enter the store fast enough. This is murky business at best. The problem is that he swiftly arrives and pulls the car without determining the veracity of the spotter's information. In that time, I picked up the prescription info from my mother in law and then entered the RiteAid to see if it was ready in the store. She has lived there since 1968, lives alone now, and uses that pharmacy, as she is 86 and at times must go there herself. I can provide photos of the medication that she was refilling, and just because I entered her home to get that info, does not recluse me as a customer. I have shopped many times in the store and did protest this practice that targets customers. I also contacted corporate regarding this matter. Justin cannot make judgement on customers. I and she are customers, and my car was taken as a customer. See the many complaints on [redacted] with regard to maltreatment of the neighborhood for his profit. Justin does not have the legal right to make the decision for the store, indeed, he uses a spotter who is motivated to call asap, without announcement or other claimed research, to get his cash payment for the tow. Once towed, I had to pay the cash no matter what my relationship to the store is since he would not release my property without exacting his payment. Cash was demanded and Justin still considers himself the judge and jury on who can enter the store, shop and not have purchased with a receipt, and still be a customer. It is not the management, but Justin, who has a monetary, cash reward, for each customer towed. Spotters are not legal, my best information, and shaking down families, which is what I witnessed, needs to be stopped.
